  • Players penalized for TD tribute to recently departed friend

    ouchdown celebrations are as much a part of high school football as wing-T formations and unexpected upsets. Yet, just as they do in the NFL and NCAA, some celebrations do occasionally cross the line into insult, rightfully earning excessive celebration penalties as a result.

    That certainly didn't seem to be the case on Friday, when two Louisville (Ohio) High football players celebrated what appeared to be a game-winning touchdown against Cleveland (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit High with just 1:15 remaining in the game with a testament to a late friend who had passed away just days before the season-opening game. Unfortunately, referees felt differently and penalized Louisville for excessive celebration, setting the stage for a game-winning field goal for Walsh Jesuit as time ran out. You can see video footage of the pointed celebration directly below.

    A: You will either need to get an Ethernet cable or a pci wifi card to connect to the internet (I highly prefer using an Ethernet cable connection to your router since its faster, cheaper, and easier to use)\r

    A: In addition to the hardware of the Gaming PC, youre going to need a copy of windows to install onto this PC by using an optical drive (Here is a video on how to obtain a copy of windows for less than $70 to free: \r

    Q: Will I need to buy an optical drive for this pc?\r
    A: Not really, I HIGHLY recommend you just reuse an old optical drive to install windows (unless you dont have one lying around your house) since youll only be using it once and buying an optical drive will be a waste. \r

    Q: Does this PC come with a cpu cooler?\r
    A: Yes, in the box of the CPU, a cpu cooler will be there. HOWEVER, if you want to overclock your cpu, your going to need an aftermarket cpu cooler to do that. \r

    Q: Does this PC come with fans, do I need to get any?\r
    A: Typically, cases come with fans in them already, however if your case comes only with one fan, its recommended that you pickup one more fan just to be safe (I used a single fan pc for a while, and had no problems, but my pc would get quite hot under rendering and intense gaming) If your case comes with two or more fans, then your alright.\r

  • Simulator Sundays; 1: Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Comanche Vs. KA-52 Hokum

    A new concept for me, lets see how this goes with a game with a very long name. Razorworks Enemy Engaged RAH-66 Comanche Vs. KA-52 Hokum is a flight simulator and the second game published by Razorworks in 2000, following Enemy Engaged Apache Havok.\r
    The base game has two flyable aircraft types and a small inventory of weaponry which can be used to customize payloads in campaign missions.\r
    On one side, there is the highly advanced RAH-66 Comanche. Using stealth technology and electronic warfare, the Comanche was intended to be the ideal recon aircraft. Sneaking undetected through enemy territory, Comanche detects enemy positions and marks them for airstrikes, before leaving, having never been detected.\r
    On the other is the KA-52 Hokum. Technologically at least, Hokum is pretty much inferior to Comanche. It does not enjoy the same level of sophistication, lacking stealth technology. However, being sneaky was never a design goal of Hokum. It is first and foremost a gunship: It attacks enemy positions from whatever angle and with whatever weaponry is best.\r
    Thanks to its highly unusual design, it is faster than Comanche (though slower in the cruise) while carrying somewhat more weaponry and much more protective armour over twice the distance.\r
    \r
    The campaign is made of aof missions made via procedural generation. For example: An AI helicopter might come under fire from enemy anti-aircraft systems, the command AI can then request a recon mission to determine the precise location of the AA position, upon completion of that a strike mission can be carried out, followed by another recon mission to ensure it is completely destroyed. A failure to complete any of those stages, either because the AA position destroyed the offending aircraft or the player collided into the ground can completely change the direction of the war as the command AI tries to compensate.\r

    While the procedural generation ensures that the campaigns are never quite the same (the openings are pretty much identical in every play-through, owing to identical starting conditions), it can result in a limited number of mission types.\r

    Razorworks ceased to exist in 2008 owing to the poor situation of Enterprise Entertainment, the publisher that owned them. Enterprise closed in new. Enemy Engaged was the first two games made by Razorworks, out of a total of 14 PC and console titles.\r
    In 2007, G2 Games released Enemy Engaged 2. In essence, its the same game with updated graphics and more bugs.\r
    In 2003, the source code was released for EE:RAH-66 Vs. KA-52 and has resulted in a massive update to the game which I will be looking at in future.\r
    \r
    Owing to its age, RAH-66 Comanche Vs. KA-52 Hokum barely works on modern computers, I had a great deal of difficulty getting the game to display anything, ultimately a new graphics card (an unrelated upgrade) solved some of the problems. However, the menu screen flickers and terrain features, when displayed at a low angle, often disappear (In the video, I blame it on a bad Anisotrophic filter, unable to cope with the angle it is being asked to render on hardware it was never designed to cope with).\r
    Plus there are missing textures, bad models, a nice quantity of bugs and a sloppy AI.\r
    However, I feel that age is the main culprit here and that despite this, the game has aged well (if it can be made to work).\r

    Massive living battlefield, no campaign will be quite the same\r
    Options to customize dynamics\r
    Can integrate with previous title, bringing new aircraft into the fray\r
    Modding community have released a massive overhaul for the game\r
    \r
    Cons:\r
    Poor, if any, compatibility with modern computers (Vista and earlier should be fine)\r
    Procedural missions have limited variation, can become repetitive\r
    Dynamics are crude (owing to the age of the game, this is probably a limit of technology more than anything)\r

    Lithuania has certainly had a rough past, being both occupied by the Nazi during World War II and then by the brutal Soviets not long after. The lithuanians originally constructed a fort and was put to use at the beginning of world war I which which is still standing now. During World War II, after the Nazis occupied the area it was used as a holding ground for people of Jew ish descent and as stronghold against the soviets. It got nicknamed the “fort of death” for its brutal conditions and then, it was reused by the soviets! Once they had control of the area, it was reused as a prison and a holding ground for political prisoners. The place is now abandoned but with its rough past, it certainly has to be haunted.\r

    5. Monument to the Victims \r
    Now you know the story of the creepy fort, you can begin to understand importance of this monument located just outside the fort near the city of Kaunas. Many graves of the people who lost their lives there went unmarked and no is too sure where they are. But this strange looking monument was erected to those perished under the deplorable conditions nonetheless. It was erected in 1984 by the remaining Jewish community of Kaunas. The Jewish community of this city town was hit pretty hard after the war and its still difficult to see much traces of them left in the country. This was designed by the sculptor Ambraziunas and stands about 105 feet high. Its hard to tell exly what the monument portrays. You can make out a few face but you can use your imagination on this one\r

    4. Grutas Park Bunker\r
    We couldnt cover all the crazy places at the Grutas park before and this creepy bunker pretty much deserves its place on the list. This strange tourist attrion gets even weirder, when participants role play as political prisoners and are escorted into an old soviet bunker. The role playing prisoners are dressed up in gulag outfits and escorted downstair. We at least hope this is just roleplay! The soviet officers are wearing authentic gear as well and they try to put them through the psychological torment of whatd it be like to be a prisoner, sounds fun right?! This woman here is signing her make believe confession to crimes against the glorious union.\r

    3. Plokstine Missile Silo\r
    With Lithuania being strategically located on the western part of the Soviet Union, this made a it an ideal location to place a few nuclear weapons. In 1959, they began to construct the Plokstine Missile Silo that would be capable of prically wiping London and a lot of Great Britain off the map. This is located in a forest near Plateliai Lake This would be able to store an R-12 nuclear missile, the same kind that was made famous during the cuban missile crisis. The site was shut down after the collapse of the soviet union and luckily it was never put to use. Locals restored the apocalyptic site so Tourists, can still walk through the creepy looking tunnels of the bunker.\r

    2. Vilnius Old Town\r
    Instead of going through the hassle to build a machine to visit the medieval times, you can go back in time by seeing the largest best preserved old town in Northern Europe! It takes up over 70 streets and features 1487 medieval buildings in Vilnius. It features many architectural styles such gothic, baroque and medieval influences. This is where youll find some of their old defensive structures such as the Vilnius Castle Complex which was functioning from the 10th to the 18 century! You could spend all day here visiting well preserved historical monuments but dont forget to see the Gate of Dawn which served as the city gate into this unforgettable capital. \r

    1.Hill of Crosses\r
    Located not far from the town of Siauliai in Northern Lithuania youll come across one of the countrys most well-known but somewhat strange landmark. It might look like an overcrowded cemetery but its not. The history behind this place dates back to the 14th century when crosses were brought here in order to express desire for Lithuanian Independence. Crosses were placed in honor of lost independence fighters and under the rule of the Soviet Union, it became a peaceful symbol of defiance against occupation. Theres believed to be over 100,000 crosses scattered on this sacred hill here all to remember those who fought until end for the independence of this unique nation!

The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. today announced The SimsTM 3 Late Night Expansion pack is in development and will hit store shelves worldwide this fall. The newest expansion to The Sims 3, the best-selling PC game of 2009, The Sims 3 Late Night gives players all-access and lets them loose on a vibrant, active downtown scene where they'll rub elbows with celebrities at the hottest parties, hit the local bar after work, tour the scene with their Sims' band, kick back in a plush hot tub, and discover what's lurking as the lights go out and adventure begins after dark.

    Celebrating 25 Years of Gran Turismo: A Message from Kazanouri Yamauchi

    I’m very happy that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary since the first release of the Gran Turismo series.

    Back in 1992, Gran Turismo was the first project plan I created out of close to 100 others I came up with when I first started my career in this industry, so it means a lot to me.

    While making video games was something I started from 10 years old as a hobby, I had never thought about making it a career.

    I started a movie production club when I was 14, and had been producing movies, so I first joined Sony hoping to create image products. But the department they assigned me to was not what I was expecting.

    It was a department where the PlayStation console was just about to start, and was a place where Kutaragi-san was working feverishly to bring the concept of PlayStation to life.
    That place was not what I had hoped for, but looking back now, you could say that I was very lucky.

    I was fascinated by real time 3D graphics that many had been waiting for, and created and presented plans for all kinds of video games, not just limited to race games but RPGs, adventure games, action games, puzzle games, and more.

    As a result, Gran Turismo took a more fantasy race game format in the “Motor Toon Grand Prix”, becoming one of the first 1st party titles for PlayStation, but if a plan for something other than a racing game had been the one that was approved, there is a good chance that I might have been making a title other than Gran Turismo today.

    Thereafter the Gran Turismo project started from gathering a team of two part time artists and three engineers.

    From there, the number of comrades have continued to increase in number for over quarter of a century, and has become Polyphony Digital today, a company with over 200 staff members.
    I don’t think there are many video game franchises in the world that have continued for 25 years with the same title, and with the same team.

    The founding members of the company are still working on the front lines, and I am thankful and proud that all 200 of our staff are a team that have the same motivation and love that the company started with in the beginning.

    In the last 25 years, the cumulative sales total of the series have reached over 90 million copies as of November 16, 2022.
    And this result is something that could not be accomplished by ourselves alone.

    Behind that 90 million figure, there are all the people of the media who conveyed the allure of Gran Turismo to their readers. There are the people of PlayStation who sold GT for us around the world with passion, and there is the incredible amount of support from the retailers who interfaced with our users.

    My heartfelt thanks goes out to all of them for their support.

    And above all else, I can’t ever thank enough the GT users and people of the GT community who have played our new titles, which at times could be said to have been very experimental.
