Biden administration weighs Trump-like asylum limits as it braces for end of Title 42 border restrictions
Washington — Bracing for the court-mandated termination of pandemic-related border restrictions that have been in place since 2020, the Biden administration is considering enacting an asylum restriction resembling a Trump-era policy struck down in court, two people familiar with the matter told CBS News. The proposed policy, which would bar certain migrants from seeking U.S. asylum if they failed to previously seek protection in other countries, has not received a final approval within the administration, according to the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. But the partial asylum ban is one of several policies under consideration by top officials at the White House and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as the administration prepares for the end of Title 42, a public health order that has allowed U.S. border authorities to quickly expel hundreds of thousands of migrants, mostly to Mexico, without allowing them to request asylum. Former MoviePass executives hit with criminal fraud charges
Two former leaders of the company MoviePass and its parent entity, Helios and Matheson Analytics, are facing federal charges for allegedly defrauding investors amid the once-defunct ticketing service's dramatic public downfall several years ago. An indictment unsealed on Friday criminally charged Theodore Farnsworth, the former CEO of Helios and Matheson, and Mitchell Lowe, the former CEO of MoviePass, with one count each of securities fraud and three counts each of wire fraud, the Justice Department said. Farnsworth, 60, and Lowe, 70, are facing similar allegations in a civil suit filed against them by the Securities and Exchange Commission in September. They reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission last year over another complaint alleging they fraudulently prevented MoviePass subscribers from using the app's services as advertised, while failing to protect their personal data. The latest federal indictment accuses Farnsworth and Lowe of deliberately engaging in an all

Out Of Control Congress Deems Pizza A Vegetable
A group of retired generals advocating for healthier school lunches also criticized the spending bill.
The group, called Mission: Readiness has called poor nutrition in school lunches a national security issue because obesity is the leading medical disqualifier for military service.
'We are outraged that Congress is seriously considering language that would effectively categorize pizza as a vegetable in the school lunch program,' Amy Dawson Taggart, the director of the group, said in a letter to members of Congress before the final plan was released.
'It doesn't take an advanced degree in nutrition to call this a national disgrace.'
Specifically, the provisions would:
%u2022 Block the Agriculture Department from limiting starchy vegetables, including corn and peas, to two servings a week. The rule was intended to cut down on french fries, which some schools serve daily.
%u2022 Allow USDA to count two tablespoons of tomato paste as a vegetable, as it does now. The department had attempted to require that only a half-cup of tomato paste could be considered a vegetable — too much to put on a pizza. Federally subsidized lunches must have a certain number of vegetables to be served.Ver video "Out Of Control Congress Deems Pizza A Vegetable"
