Barclays pagará 31 millones de euros por manipular el precio del oro

Las autoridades reguladoras del mercado británico han impuesto esta multa al banco inglés después de que uno de sus trabajadores fijase el precio del oro, a fin de beneficiarse a costa de uno de sus clientes entre los años 2004 y 2013.

Durante ese periodo, el Barclays era uno de los bancos que fijaban el precio del metal “Gold Fixing” dos veces al día.

El “Gold Fixing” es un mecanismo que permite a los inversores comprar y vender oro a un precio único.

Con anterioridad, Barclays había aceptado pagar 146 millones de euros a las autoridades estadounidenses en concepto de sanción civil por haber manipulado y presentado informes falsos que afectaron al cálculo de los tipos de referencia del mercado interbancario Libor y Euribor

Things to know: The spot price is the current market price at which an asset is bought or sold for immediate payment and delivery. For metals this is raw metal in large contrs and bars. COMEX - 1000 oz or 5000 oz silver. Gold typically in 400+ ounce delivery bars. \r
Seigniorage is the difference between the value of money and the cost to produce and distribute it. Seigniorage derived from specie—metal coins—is a tax, added to the total price of a coin (metal content and production costs), that a customer of the mint had to pay to the mint. Making coins is not easy and there is an added cost - purifying and weighing out, forming plankets, making dies, striking, handling, packing and shipping etc. This is why coins and even smaller units of metal always cost more than spot. For Gold, currently it appears that $30-$40 over spot is very fair (per oz.) For Silver, $1-$2 over is somewhat fair depending on volume and type of coins. Hope that helps.\r

U.S. Depression Empty Store Shelves Coming to America

The National Inflation Association today issued a warning to all Americans that empty store shelves will likely be coming to America as a result of government price controls during the upcoming hyperinflationary crisis. This morning, NIA released a video preview of what hyperinflation will look like in the U.S.

NIA's six-minute video released today goes into detail about an event that took place just outside of Boston, Massachusetts in May of this year. This story was widely ignored by the nationwide mainstream media, but NIA believes it was one of the most important news events of the first half of 2010. Although this particular crisis in Boston was due to decaying infrastructure, NIA believes a currency crisis will lead to the same type of panic on a nationwide basis.

NIA hopes that this video serves as a wake-up call for Americans to take the necessary steps to prepare for hyperinflation and become educated about the U.S. economy. In Zimbabwe during hyperinflation, Zimbabweans were forced to transact in gold and silver. It's only a matter of time before the U.S. dollar becomes worthless and the only Americans with wealth will be those who own gold and silver.

Thrustmaster T500RS Sparco Racing Steering Wheel Upgrade - Hub Adapter

Time to upgrade the Obutto R3volution gaming platform by putting a new steering wheel on my Thrustmaster T500RS. I went with a Sparco street wheel because it has tons of padding and feel great in my hands. I used the T500AD adapter from DSD Technology Systems Corporation to adapt the 70mm bolt pattern of the wheel to the native hub based T500RS design. I obtained the wheel for $200 from 425 Motorsports in Bellevue, WA and I couldnt be happier with the end results!\r

•IGN 8/10 After playing Gran Turismo 5 with the Thrustmaster T500 RS, I never wanted to go back to a PlayStation DualShock controller. But the cost of the system makes it impossible to recommend to all but the most hardcore Gran Turismo 5 fanatics. If you are currently playing GT5 with a standard PlayStation 3 DualShock controller while rolling around on a pile of gold doubloons, then do yourself a favor and pick up a T500. But be warned -- youll need something sturdy to clamp it to. As much fun as it might sound to hold something called a Thrustmaster in your lap, its not going to work with this one. Overall, the Thrustmaster T500 RS is a great piece of hardware that does the GT5 name proud. It brings the track alive, but at a terrible price.\r
•Engadget 6/10 At $599 its awfully hard to recommend this wheel and pedal combination. The wheel itself has a magnificent feel thats beginning to knock on the door of much more expensive offerings like a Frex or ECCI, and the number of inputs makes managing button-happy cars easier. But, those buttons are hard to find while driving and the rubber coating feels unfortunately low-rent. The massive size of the thing makes it best suited for semi-permanent installations and the limited PS3 compatibility is, for the moment at least, a disappointment. Meanwhile the pedals are overkill yet underwhelming. Theyre heavy and wont go anywhere but all that weight feels excessive, unnecessary, and adorned with rubber feet that kept falling off. Not exly what youd expect for $599. Ultimately either the Logitech G27 or the Fanatec line of wheels offer nearly as good performance at a much more palatable cost -- and with designs less likely to give you a hernia when hauling about the house.\r
•VirtualR.net So, is the T500 RS as innovative as the long feature list and the rather hefty price tag of 499€/$599 suggests? In one word: Yes! Dont get fooled by the Gran Turismo badge, this wheel is most likely the most advanced product ever offered in this price range. The wheels precision is unmatched and the very strong & silent force feedback even edges out Fanatecs Turbo S wheel.I´ve reviewed quite a lot of wheels and I´ve never instantly clicked with a new product as I did with the T500 RS. Usually, it takes me a bit of time to get up to speed with a new wheel but the T500 RS gave me instant confidence thanks to the great force feedback and the overall amazing feel provided when driving. Sadly, the pedal unit falls a bit off in terms of features, a load-cell brake would have been a fitting feature to make the pedals match the wheel and make it easier for more professional racers to consider switching to the T500 RS. Thrustmaster has put together a wheel that can compete even with professional wheels from niche-manufurers that often sell for more than three times the price. And while some competitors might offer some features the T500 RS does not have (more expensive materials, a built-in display) the wheel is certainly the new benchmark in terms of precision, raw force feedback power and overall feel that will satisfy even the most demanding sim racers.\r
•Simulation World 94/100 This is an amazing product that really has targeted a market and a price point and hit a home run right away. They were a little hard to get hold of for a while but are now beginning to spring up in retail stores in the US and Europe. If in doubt, check Frys.com and amazon.com to see if they are in stock. If you have the cash and are looking to upgrade from a Logitech but cant stomach the price of a ECCI, then this is the wheel for you. The tribes that live in New Guinea undergo a process called crocodile scarification when a boy becomes a man. The majority of the boys body is cut in order to create patterns that resemble the skin of a crocodile. The process is very painful and can take months for the body to fully heal. \r

The members of the Himba tribe are known for covering their skin with a thick red cream made from local herbs and crushed rock. The cream is seen as attrive to other members of the tribe and it also keeps their skin safe from the blazing African sun. Himba women take a bath only once in their life, just before getting married. On bath night, they wash their hair with ash and must keep the same hairstyle for the remainder of their lives.\r

Eskimos hold an interesting tradition when it comes to taking care of their elderly. To prevent the older members of the community from being burdens on their families, they are sent off to die alone on a floating iceberg when they become a certain age. In the Hamer tribe of Ethiopia young boys prove their manhood by jumping onto the back of a bull, then jumping from the back of that bull to another bull and seeing how many he can jump across. They usually conduct this ritual in the nude. \r

If a couple wants to get married in the Banyankole tribe, the man must first sleep with the aunt of his soon-to-be bride. Another part of the tradition is that the aunt must then check to make sure her niece is a virgin. Only after both tests are passed will she give her blessing and the couple can get married. \r

Everyone in the Mauritania tribe believes that the bigger the woman, the more beautiful she is. Parents even send their daughters to “fat camps” where they are fed an average of 15,000 calories each day. Being larger in size makes you more desirable as a wife. \r

The women of the Dani tribe choose to grieve in a very peculiar way. When a family member dies, the women in the family voluntarily cut off a segment of one of their fingers. They numb it by tying the section off with a string for about half an hour, and after the cut is made, they seal the wound with fire. \r

#8 - The Most Painful Bite in the World\r
As an initiation ritual, the Satere-Mawe tribe boys gather bullet ants from the jungle nearby. After being drugged with herbs from the Medicine Man, the bullet ants, which are said to have the most painful sting in the world, are sewn into a pair of woven gloves. After the drugs wear off, the ants become angry and aggressive. In order to become men, the boys must wear these gloves in ten-minute intervals until they have endured the pain 20 different times. \r

The burial traditions of the Yanomami tribe are more than strange. When a person of this tribe dies, the body is cremated, and the ashes are mixed into a soup that is drunk by the surviving members of their family. There are different ideas and thoughts regarding the reason why they wear the coils, but the most common reason being a symbol of beauty. Many non-tribe members think that the gold coil stretches the neck were, in reality, it pushes down the clavicle and compresses the rib cage.
