Las recreativas más vendidas de la historia
Seguro que recordáis cuáles eran las máquinas recreativas que tenían a todo el mundo arremolinado a su alrededor en los salones del barrio. Incluso, si hacemos memoria, podemos adivinar cuáles estaban repetidas en distintos lugares, pero ¿cuáles fueron las más vendidas?
Aquí hacemos un repaso a las 5 máquinas con más unidades repartidas por todo el mundo, y nos vamos a llevar una sorpresa, porque algunos juegos imprescindibles como Pang o Tetris no se auparon a estos puestos de honor. Si tenéis curiosidad, aquí podéis ver las mejores recreativas de la Historia, elegidas por nuestros lectores.
Y ahora, vamos a por los arcades de mayor éxito, auténticos clásicos de los videojuegos.
Space Invaders
Saludad al rey. Con más de 360.000 unidades vendidas en todo el mundo, este matamarcianos de Taito es la recreativa que más se ha vendido en toda la Historia. Y no es de extrañar. Su desarrollo sigue siendo igual de adictivo que cuando se lanzó en 1978, y tanto el diseño de los invasores como el sonido han pasado a ser auténticos iconos de los videojuegos.
Space Invaders es un juego de Tomohiro Nishikado, que se inspiró en obras como La guerra de los mundos y Star Wars, además de un clásico de Atari, el "machaca ladrillos" Breakout. El éxito en los salones recreativos se trasladó por iguual a las versiones de consola. Space Invaders se convirtió en el primer juego "vendeconsolas" y consiguió multiplicar por cuatro las ventas de Atari 2600 cuando se lanzó.
Space Invaders no sólo ha sido la recreativa más vendida de todos los tiempos, sino que en 1978 se convirtió en el producto de entretenimiento que más dinero recaudó (incluyendo la industria musical, el cine y la televisión). La leyenda urbana dice que incluso se produjo una escasez de monedas de 100 yenes por culpa de la recreativa, aunque el lanzamiento de la máquina de Taito coincidió con un descenso en la puesta de monedas en circulación.
Pac Man
Seguro que esta entrada no os sorprende... . El popular "comecocos", lanzado en 1980 por Namco (con el profesor Toru Iwatani como su principal responsable) ya es un icono de la cultura pop. Su historia está llena de datos curiosos, como su nombre (derivado de la onomatopeya japonesa para comer "paku paku") y que pasó de Puck Man a Pac Man, para evitar que los gamberros hiciesen juegos de palabras.
Y por supuesto, no podemos olvidar el final del juego: el nivel 256 en que la mitad de la pantalla se corrompía y era imposible jugar. Pero lo más importante es su recaudación; Pac Man consiguió vender más de 350.000 máquinas en todo el mundo, y al contrario de lo que ocurrió con Asteroids, su éxito fue mayor en Estados Unidos que en Japón. A finales de 1980 los beneficios acumulados de Pac Man eran superiores a los de Star Wars.
La popularidad del personaje le ha llevado a protagonizar series de televisión, juegos de mesa, éxitos de las listas musicales e incluso a ser uno de los protagonistas en la película Pixels. Además Pac Man es la única recreativa que ha conseguido colocar dos entregas entre las cinco más vendidas de todos los tiempos.
Street Fighter II Champion Edition
Estábamos seguros de que algún juego de lucha se colaría entre las recreativas más vendidas de todos los tiempos. Pero, sorpresa, no ha sido Street Fighter II, sino su revisión, Champion Edition. Capcom supo sacarle partido a su juego de 1991 y añadió cuatro luchadores adicionales: Balrog, Vega, Sagat y M. Bison, y la posibilidad de cambiar el color de nuestro atuendo. El resultado es que el número de unidades, duplicó el del Street Fighter II original: de 60.000 a 140.000 unidades.
Técnicamente, Street Fighter II Champion Edition sacaba el máximo partido a la placa recreativa CPS-1, pero el secreto de su éxito fue la selección de personajes, el sistema de control y un multijugador sencillamente devastador, que nos ponía los pelos de punta cada vez que aparecía en la pantalla "Here comes a new challenger!"
En las cifras de ventas de Street Fighter II Champion Edition no hemos contabilizado todas las ROMS modificadas que aparecieron a continuación y que permitían lanzar bolas de fuego a Chun Li, luchar al doble de velocidad o llenar la pantalla con decenas de Sonic Boom si jugábamos con Guile. Se trataba de modificaciones no oficiales provenientes de Asia, que sólo llegaron a algunos salones recreativos.
Ms. Pacman
Poco podemos decir de esta secuela, después de haber presentado al original. En 1981 el éxito de Pac Man justificó lanzar esta versión "femenina" con gráficos mejorados y mayor colorido. Pero en realidad no se trataba de un juego oficial, sino de una modificación pirata del original, que después se apropió Namco en los tribunales (Midway en Estados Unidos). Ése es el principal motivo de que MS. Pacman nunca llegase a los recreativos japoneses.
Pese a que no estaba disponible en todo el mundo, sus cifras son impresionantes; la recreativa alcanzó más de 117.000 unidades, la cuarta más vendida de todos los tiempoVer video "Las recreativas más vendidas de la historia"

Pac-Man es un videojuego arcade creado por el diseñador de videojuegos Toru Iwatani de la empresa Namco (basado supuestamente en la forma de una pizza con un trozo faltante), y distribuido por Midway Games al mercado estadounidense a principios de los años 1980. Desde que Pac-Man fue lanzado el 21 de mayo de 1980, fue un éxito. Se convirtió en un fenómeno mundial en la industria de los videojuegos, llegó a tener el Récord Guiness del videojuego de arcade más exitoso de todos los tiempos con un total de 293.822 máquinas vendidas de 1981 a 1987 y acabó con el dominio de Space Invaders, donde la 'acción predominante era shoot-em-up (disparar a todos)' para reemplazarla por un formato único, más humorístico y poco violento que gustó a muchísimas personas.

Los videojuegos han recorrido un largo camino desde los días de los botones individuales y las gráficas simples. He aquí algunos momentos memorables de los videojuegos... "Tennis for Two", creado por el Dr. William Higinbotham en 1958, fue la primera experiencia de usuario virtual y sentó un precedente para los juegos venideros. La primera consola de juegos para el hogar: Magnavox Odyssey, fue lanzada en 1972. Los 70's dieron la bienvenida a juegos arcade como "Pong" y "Space Invaders", ambos creados por el gigante estadounidense Atari. Nintendo arrasó en los años '80 con la consola Nintendo Entertainment System y Game Boy, presentando clásicos como "Donkey Kong" y "Super Mario". En las dos décadas siguientes se produjo el auge de los juegos de PC y el lanzamiento de consolas domésticas como la PlayStation de Sony, la Xbox de Microsoft y la Wii de Nintendo. Galaxy Force (ギャラクシーフォース?) is a sprite-scaling rail shooter arcade game, released by Sega in 1988 and built upon the Sega Y Board. The game which is in the tradition of Sega's successful Space Harrier is set in space. The game was ported in 1989 to the Sega Master System and in 1990 to the Mega Drive/Genesis, Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, FM Towns, Sega Saturn and PlayStation 2 platforms.
Two other versions of the arcade game were released as Galaxy Force II Deluxe Edition and Galaxy Force Super Deluxe Edition. Galaxy Force II was also released on the Virtual Console via Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in Japan on February 3, 2009, in Europe on May 1, 2009 and in North America on May 11, 2009.[6] Galaxy Force II was released on Nintendo 3DS as part of the 3D Classics series. It was released in July 2013 in Japan and in December 2013 in Australia, Europe and North America.
The evil Fourth Empire, ruled by Halcyon, begins a campaign of galactic conquest, after laying waste to almost all of the star systems in the galaxy, An interstellar organization, known as the Space Federation, launches Galaxy Force, an elite starfighter corps specializing in space combat to free the galaxy from the oppressive rule of Halcyon and the Fourth Empire. A lone fighter wages a one-man war against Halcyon and his forces.
Description from the American release:
"In this distant Galaxy exist many systems harboring life. Trade and communication have arisen between these star systems, as has a great, dark force threatening these distant civilizations. To fight this dark menace the Space Federation was formed, but has met with little success. The enemy calls itself THE FOURTH EMPIRE and has now attacked JUNOS, jewel of the Galaxy. The JUNOS star system, once so beautiful... is only ashes now. And on these ashes THE FOURTH EMPIRE is building the strongest fortress of all time, from which to complete their conquest of the galaxy. The Space Federation must end this evil menace! Thus is launched Galaxy Force, to strike a hammer blow against the forces threatening civilization. Fortunately, having done this duty of saving JUNOS people and destroying THE FOURTH EMPIRE, a combatant of Galaxy Force returned to the ship."

The heat and coldness redistribution across the world will minimize risks caused by Ice Age and post-Ice Age. Gunjack is an amazing looking game, with stunning visual effects and first class audio, from sound effects to narration. The graphics alone is worth the purchase price point. \r

The downer is that in reality this game ends up being a glorified version of some of Gear VRs originals, Gunner or Caldera Defense, followed up by the paid game Bandit Six. For a similar gameplay if not better, Caldera Defense affords you more depth of play while Gunner isnt a graphic realism feast, it has its place in its comic style which in itself is eye candy. \r

EVE Gunjack takes its name from the anticipated consumer release EVE Valkyrie but Valkyrie it is not, as per the above games it is a static defence shooter and not one of dog fights in outer space.\r
\r
One improvement on immersion would be to put the player back further into the cockpit so more of the inside is seen this however impairs the viewers battlefield visibility but in doing so it adds realism, depth and increases immersion. You can see this when you press the BACK button on your Gear VR which pauses the game and you can see more of the inside of the turret giving you that depth despite sacrificing field of view. Your charer would realistically have his field of view from further inside the turret rather than a forward view which just puts you in a space invader spectator point of view instead of an immersive perspective.\r

If you are looking for dog fights, I suggest you invest your time and money on Anshar Wars 2 which take you from space sorties to battles on planet surface and even subtaraniun area of operations.\r

If y graphics Unreal Engine graphics gets you off and youre happy to be a turret gunner, go for it, as the mission loading sequence and visuals do give you immersion.Ver video "Gunjack Gear VR - Gameplay (Rating 9)"
