Lithuania has certainly had a rough past, being both occupied by the Nazi during World War II and then by the brutal Soviets not long after. The lithuanians originally constructed a fort and was put to use at the beginning of world war I which which is still standing now. During World War II, after the Nazis occupied the area it was used as a holding ground for people of Jew ish descent and as stronghold against the soviets. It got nicknamed the “fort of death” for its brutal conditions and then, it was reused by the soviets! Once they had control of the area, it was reused as a prison and a holding ground for political prisoners. The place is now abandoned but with its rough past, it certainly has to be haunted.\r

5. Monument to the Victims \r
Now you know the story of the creepy fort, you can begin to understand importance of this monument located just outside the fort near the city of Kaunas. Many graves of the people who lost their lives there went unmarked and no is too sure where they are. But this strange looking monument was erected to those perished under the deplorable conditions nonetheless. It was erected in 1984 by the remaining Jewish community of Kaunas. The Jewish community of this city town was hit pretty hard after the war and its still difficult to see much traces of them left in the country. This was designed by the sculptor Ambraziunas and stands about 105 feet high. Its hard to tell exly what the monument portrays. You can make out a few face but you can use your imagination on this one\r

4. Grutas Park Bunker\r
We couldnt cover all the crazy places at the Grutas park before and this creepy bunker pretty much deserves its place on the list. This strange tourist attrion gets even weirder, when participants role play as political prisoners and are escorted into an old soviet bunker. The role playing prisoners are dressed up in gulag outfits and escorted downstair. We at least hope this is just roleplay! The soviet officers are wearing authentic gear as well and they try to put them through the psychological torment of whatd it be like to be a prisoner, sounds fun right?! This woman here is signing her make believe confession to crimes against the glorious union.\r

3. Plokstine Missile Silo\r
With Lithuania being strategically located on the western part of the Soviet Union, this made a it an ideal location to place a few nuclear weapons. In 1959, they began to construct the Plokstine Missile Silo that would be capable of prically wiping London and a lot of Great Britain off the map. This is located in a forest near Plateliai Lake This would be able to store an R-12 nuclear missile, the same kind that was made famous during the cuban missile crisis. The site was shut down after the collapse of the soviet union and luckily it was never put to use. Locals restored the apocalyptic site so Tourists, can still walk through the creepy looking tunnels of the bunker.\r

2. Vilnius Old Town\r
Instead of going through the hassle to build a machine to visit the medieval times, you can go back in time by seeing the largest best preserved old town in Northern Europe! It takes up over 70 streets and features 1487 medieval buildings in Vilnius. It features many architectural styles such gothic, baroque and medieval influences. This is where youll find some of their old defensive structures such as the Vilnius Castle Complex which was functioning from the 10th to the 18 century! You could spend all day here visiting well preserved historical monuments but dont forget to see the Gate of Dawn which served as the city gate into this unforgettable capital. \r

1.Hill of Crosses\r
Located not far from the town of Siauliai in Northern Lithuania youll come across one of the countrys most well-known but somewhat strange landmark. It might look like an overcrowded cemetery but its not. The history behind this place dates back to the 14th century when crosses were brought here in order to express desire for Lithuanian Independence. Crosses were placed in honor of lost independence fighters and under the rule of the Soviet Union, it became a peaceful symbol of defiance against occupation. Theres believed to be over 100,000 crosses scattered on this sacred hill here all to remember those who fought until end for the independence of this unique nation!

Paignton Ice Skating for Cars

This has been redone to conform with you tube's 'Privacy Policy'. I receieved a privacy complaint today, so hopefully this edit takes care of that.

Shocking driving condtions in Paignton on the busiest shopping day of the year. The car is barely moving but the hill makes stopping impossible and both people in the front of the car decide to jump out?????

The couple were warned by neighbours not to venture out that day and they were the only people to attempt to drive on that road. There were numerous pedestrians around who could barely walk on the black ice so a car really stood no chance.

Near the start of the video you can see a recovery truck. This had been stuck there, blocking the road for 3 hours and didn't move for another 2 hours after this incident.

The reason the video ends abruptly is because my wife and I raced downstairs to see if there were any injuries to the couple. Once I made it past the red cars in the right of the frame, it was clear that several people were seeing to the couple around where the car ended up.

Pretty obvious to see why many people are finding this so funny but believe me, not one person who witnessed this was laughing at the time. My wife and I felt physically sick, as did many others. Thankfully, the couple involved didn't suffer any serious injuries. More importantly, no pedestrians or children were hit by the abandoned car.

PLEASE, check your local roads before setting out on a journey. Listen to local radio, speak to neighbours and try to avoid being part of incidents like this.

These are medium-sized birds, intermediate between the larger pheasants and the smaller quails. Partridges are native to the grassy steppes of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Nowadays they are often found nesting on agricultural land. They nest on the ground and have a diet consisting of seeds and insects. Species such as the grey partridge and the red-legged partridge are popular as game birds, and are often reared in captivity and released for the purpose of hunting. For the same reason, they have been introduced into large areas of North America.\r

According to Greek legend, the first partridge appeared when Daedalus threw his nephew, Perdix, off the sacred hill of Athena in a fit of jealous rage. Supposedly mindful of his fall, the bird does not build its nest in the trees, nor take lofty flights and avoids high places.\r

The most famous reference to the partridge is in the Christmas carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas. The first gift listed is a partridge in a pear tree, and these words end each verse. Since partridges are unlikely to be seen in pear-trees (they are ground-nesting birds) it has been suggested that the text in a pear tree is a corruption of the French une perdrix.\r

The partridge has also been used as a symbol that represents Kurdish nationalism. It is called Kew. Sherko Kurmanj discusses the paradox of symbols in Iraq as an attempt to make a distinction between the Kurds and the Arabs. He says that while Iraqis generally regards the palm tree, falcon, and sword as their national symbols, the Kurds consider the Oak, Partridge, and dagger as theirs.\r

# 6 Stone Spheres of Costa Rica\r
There are over 300 almost perfectly spherical stone balls located on the Diquis Delta and Isla del Cano and are locally known as Las Bolas. They are commonly believed to have been built by the now extinct Diquis Culture and may have been sculptures used to line the pathways to the houses of chiefs, however, this is unconfirmed. These mysterious spheres range in size from just a few centimeters to 2 meters or 6.6 feet in diameter and can weigh up to 15 tons. The Yonaguni Monument is a submerged rock formation off the coast of the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. The monument has seemingly artificial edges with sharp edges and flat surfaces that seem man-made. Those who believe this was a monument made on land and then fell and was submerged into the ocean somewhere between 3,000 years and 10,000 years ago. The Egyptians left behind plenty of things for us to marvel at but one thing they left behind that you might not know about is the Unfinished Obelisk. It is taller than any known obelisk that has been raised however it seems quarrymen abandoned the structure when the sides of it frured. It weighed over 1150 tons and measures 120 feet in height. It was one of the most amazing discoveries in Egypt. As opposed to the Great Pyramids which only shows us the final product, the Unfinished Obelisk shows a glimpse into how Ancient Egyptians worked and made things. In this case, the Obelisk was being carved out of granite bedrock with balls of Dolerite which is a mineral that is harder than granite.\r

Pumapunku is a part of a large temple complex near the Tiwanaku Site of Western Bolivia. It is believed to date have been made approximately 1500 years ago. Pumapunku is comprised of elaborate stone structures that once framed a magnificent and quote “unbelievably wonderful” complex. The stone structures are made with what seems to be complex tools and precision that baffles modern historians. High precision holes and divots are cut into the structure in a way that didnt seem possible at the time.\r

The people of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean existed for approximately 1,100 years from 4,000 to 2900 B.C.E. before completely disappearing for no reason. This mysterious culture left behind more than 30 temples in their wake, some of the oldest freestanding stone structures in the world. They seem to have a civilization that focused a lot on life, uality, and death with several phallic symbols, figurines, and figurines of fertile ladies. These temples also had complex underground burial chambers and an abundance of artwork suggesting a thriving society and culture.
