SCRIPT

Men and women braved the rain and the strength of dozens of wild horses weighing several hundred kilograms Saturday in the Spanish town of Sabucedo for the "Rapa das Bestas," a controversial festival which involves wrestling wild horses and forcibly cutting their manes and tails while the animals try to resist.

The horses used in the festival live in a semi-feral state in the nearby mountains. Wrestling the animals, which can weigh several hundred kilograms, is seen as a test of strength and will. "Rapa das Bestas" means "Cropping the Beasts."

Horse wrestling is considered animal abuse by a number of organisations, such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). In the U.S. state of Oklahoma, horse wrestling is legally classified as animal cruelty, punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 (€3,680) and seven years in prison.

Sanear o recortar un casco (o vaso) es algo imprescindible que hay que hacer antes de herrar a un caballo. De hecho, aunque muchas personas no lo saben, es la razón por la que se suele cambiar la mayoría de las herraduras.

Las herraduras pueden cambiarse porque se gastan, pero normalmente se cambian porque el casco o vaso del caballo crece de forma tal que hace que el caballo empiece a pisar mal. Es cuando hay que sacar la herradura (gastada o no) limpiar, recortar o "nivelar" el casco (sanearlo) y volver a poner una herradura, una nueva, porque normalmente la misma ya no sirve.

La mitad de los viajeros españoles optan por escapadas cortas, de 2 a 4 días, y suelen apurar al comprar sus billetes. Una media de 33 días antes de su salida. El precio es el factor que más se tiene en cuenta.

Madrid, Barcelona y Palma de Mallorca son las ciudades más elegidas para escapadas nacionales, mientras que Londres, París y Roma encabezan los destinos internacionales. Sin embargo, La Habana ha experimentado el incremento más espectacular con una subida del 136 por ciento en 2016.

Claves para volar este verano al mejor precio

Según el último estudio de Skyscanner, el comparador global de vuelos, hoteles y alquiler de coches, reservar billetes de avión para las vacaciones de verano en el momento óptimo puede suponer un ahorro de 168€ por familia y viaje de media1, lo que supondría un ahorro de 50 millones de euros si todos los españoles reservasen sus vuelos en el mejor momento.

Según se desprende de los datos obtenidos por el metabuscador, reservar con 7 semanas de antelación permite poder gestionarlos con descuentos de hasta el 9,73% de media. El 91% asegura desconocer el mejor momento para reservar sus vuelos al mejor precio y según el último estudio del metabuscador, solamente el 28% gestiona sus vuelos en el momento óptimo.

Para facilitar a los viajeros españoles la gestión de su compra de vuelos, Skyscanner también ha analizado cuál es el mejor momento para reservar vuelos desde los principales aeropuertos españoles y ha estudiado el patrón de compra de los usuarios de dichos aeropuertos. Así, los datos analizados muestran que alicantinos y catalanes son los que mejor reservan sus billetes, puesto que sus hábitos de reserva son los que más se adecúan al periodo óptimo de compra, 9 semanas previas al viaje en ambos casos. En cambio, baleares y vascos son los que menos se ajustan a estos criterios y los que más podrían ahorrar en sus vuelos en caso de hacerlo en el momento óptimo. Por ejemplo, a los usuarios que vuelen desde Palma de Mallorca les sale más económico reservar con 12 semanas de antelación, lo que supone un ahorro de hasta el 19%, y en cambio, tienden a hacerlo con casi 8 semanas de antelación. Para los que parten del aeropuerto de Bilbao, sin embargo, el mejor momento para comprar sus billetes es 13 semanas antes (8% de descuento) pero acostumbran a hacerlo 3 semanas después del plazo idóneo.
