Afghan boy with cerebral palsy gets new life in Spain

Valencia, Spain, May 12 (EFE).- A 7-year-old Afghan boy afflicted with cerebral palsy has begun a new life with his family here in Mediterranean Spain, spending the first night at Valencia's Hospital La Fe.

Osman is in stable condition and undergoing treatment for mild anemia, the hospital said.

The long journey that Osman and his family began in Afghanistan in early April ended Tuesday night, when they landed in Spain on a flight from Greece, where they spent weeks in the Idomeni refugee camp.

This time I had to enter a platform with an old Scania truck.After I loaded an excavator once before, I thought that it would be much easier with a truck on wheels. Of course, I was wrong. The platform was slippery, the lowest gears didnt work well, the axle didnt want to lower. But this makes it interesting. If it was easy, it wouldnt be fun ;)\r

Given all the praise heaped on the BMW 3 Series over the years, we can't blame you for thinking there's more to the story. We've heard all the conspiracy theories, most of them involving checks in large denominations from Munich.

This might seem believable to a certain segment of the population, but there's a far less interesting truth behind all those wins: The BMW was the best car. Sure, certain rivals often upped their game in one area or another, but the 3 Series always put it all together in a way that made it better.

So now the 2010 Audi S4 is here to take another shot. It's all-new this year and the old V8 is gone. There's now a supercharged V6 in its place, along with a lower price designed to better align the S4 with the BMW 335i.

The BMW 3 Series received a face-lift of its own last year. It was mostly minor trim changes and the like, but we're told that iDrive thing was tweaked again, too (oh, lovely).

Sounds like a fair fight, no?

Indian Almond (Catappa) Leaves in an Aquarium - Shrimp Saturday

Its shrimp Saturday which means another information packed video dedicated to freshwater shrimp breeding in aquariums. Todays topic is Indian Almond Leaves, also known as Catappa Leaves. Im running a special on the Imdian Almond Leaves this week. \r

So, onto Indian Almond Leaves in the aquarium, mainly in freshwater shrimp tanks. I want to go over some quick points and cover them all in the video: origins of Indian almond leaves, their benefits and uses in the aquarium, how many to use for freshwater shrimp and how long the Indian Almond Leaves last. \r
\r
First off, Indians Almond Leaves originated in South East Asia. They were originally used by betta breeders to condition them to spawn. They also used them in their hospital tanks to get the fish back to health. \r
\r
Now, what are Indian Almond Leaves used for. The uses are listed in order of importance in my opinion. \r
\r
The first most important use for Indian Almond Leaves in the aquarium is for trace minerals and other beneficial compounds. In nature, shrimp originate from slow moving river in forests. It is safe to say that leaves do fall into the the river and will decay over time. These leaves release tons of minerals and compounds into the river. In an aquarium, we use over filtered drinking water. Many trace elements are missing that shrimp need to thrive. By adding Indian Almond Leaves to the aquarium, the shrimp start to receive these necessary mineral and it opens the door to really allow them to thrive. \r
\r
The second most important use for Indian Almond Leaves is for a natural food source for shrimp. Infusoria (micro-organisms) breakdown the leaf in the aquarium. This process usually takes a month to accomplish. The infusoria are a natural food source for shrimp and shrimplets (baby shrimp). Therefore, Indian Almond Leaves are essential to creating a stable environment for freshwater shrimp to breed. \r
\r
Indian Almond Leaves are pumped full of anti-fungal properties to prevent die off in nature. These properties and compounds are believe to be released into the water column of an aquarium as the leaf breaks down. With that being said, many hobbyists (like myself) believe that Indian Almond Leaves help fight off berial and fungal infections in shrimp. \r
\r
These three reason above are enough reason to begin using Indian Almond Leaves in your aquarium for freshwater shrimp. The leaves provide trace minerals and compound, a natural food source and provide anti-fungal an anti-berial properties to an aquarium. Although, this is not all they do: \r
\r
Indian Almond leaves will also help to lower the ph of an aquarium. How much they lower ph depends on the level of kh (carbonate hardness) in the aquarium. The higher the kh, the harder it will be to lower the ph meaning itll take more leaves. \r
\r
The only downfall to Indian Almond leaves is that they do change the color of the water to a tea color. Hobbyists that like clear water will not like this. Also, some find the leaves sore on the eye and do not prefer to use them for this reason. \r
\r
The dosage of Indian Almond Leaves for shrimp tanks is simple, one leaf (6 to 8 in) per 20 gallons of water. Add a new leaf as one begins to decay. This will usually occur after 2-4 weeks. For larger tanks with higher loads of shrimp, add more leaves as necessary. \r
\r

Her blue tail is painted with screen printing ink, and her sequin tails are hand sewn cartwright sequins (thousands and thousands- it takes over 6 months to make this kind of tail by hand), the fringe she uses is cut clear vinyl shelf liner. To make a tail like this yourself would cost you $500 and up.\r

Start up costs and overhead costs are often paid for out of their own pockets and can be thousands and thousands of dollars out of their own savings. There is a reason why the tails are as much as they are, so be respectful and do not ask for a discount. \r
Many ask for a silicone tail below $400. Just the cost of materials far exceeds that, so no. If you really truely want that kind of tail, be patient, work hard, and save responsibly for it. \r

My name is Noah and on May 18 new, I had a rare reion to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRIs SNRIs Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. As a last ditch effort, 6 1/2 months ago I had my blood drawn and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment. I am blessed to say that I have slowly over the last 6 months been improving and becoming more stable wich I never thought to be possible. I have experienced improvements in all areas or my condition and that is a miracle. As many tourists pass through Patong, the local vendors on the central streets dont get many repeat customers. Thats why the fruit seller can get away with selling subpar coconuts etc with little to no effect on their trade. Something to bear in mind when dealing with the locals.\r

Gig hotel now not guest friendly\r

As of early November 2016 the Gig hotel (my previous number 1 recommendation) charges 1000 baht to bring a lady back to the room, regardless if you stay alone or not.\r

Looks like pure greed for the high season rather than changing to be a family/couple friendly hotel. The thing is they are a decent hotel with a great rooftop pool in a great location so its a shame. Almost all male solo travellers will be put off by this new policy - I know I wont be staying there again.\r

Sansabai Sports Bar\r

This small bar is popular with Aussies, and I was more than happy with my 180 baht full English Breakfast. My hangover was a distant memory on leaving.\r

Rain in Patong\r

Phuket receives a lot more rain than Pattaya and Bangkok so if you are holidaying there during the rainy season the prices are lower but you roll the dice with the weather. It rained 3 out of 4 days I was there, and not just short showers.\r

This cheap Thai food restaurant always has long queues outside, and receives great reviews on tripadviser. If you are planning to visit then maybe try to go outside of peak hours. \r

C & N Hotel\r

I booked a studio room and it was obvious from the old plug sockets and bottle opener in the bathroom that it was a very old hotel thatd had a makeover. \r
\r
The room I had was ok, but everytime I opened the curtains it felt like the whole of Patong could see into my room. \r
\r
At night I returned home at the very late hour of 4am and was surprised to be getting blasted with heavy bass music from Tai Pan nightclub. Request a room on the North side of the hotel if staying here.\r
\r
It was an ok hotel and was guest friendly (500 baht for a 3rd girl if youre having a 3some). But I dont count this place in the top Patong hotels as it had no swimming pool, and I could see the noise issue being a problem.\r
\r
As such, I didnt include C & N hotel in the Bkk112 recommended hotels of Patong. But if you are really stuck for a place to stay then it is an above average place and the staff there were very helpful.\r

Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. Octopuss Garden -- Finding treasure under the sea isnt so unusual … unless its discovered by and octopus! A Korean fisherman was hoping for a catch of webfoot octopus, which is considered a delicacy. When his first catch of the day was hauled in, he noticed the creature had several blue objects attached to its suckers. The fisherman thought they were seashells at first. But upon further examination, the objects turned out to be shards of pottery. He cast his net a few more times. Each succeeding octopus had those same shards of pottery attached to the suckers… one creature even had an entire plate caught in its tentacles. When the fisherman returned to shore, he conted the National Maritime Museum of Seoul, who sent out a team to investigate. Officials said the pottery was over 900 years old, dating back to the 12th century Koryo (korry-O) Dynasty. Over 30 bowls were later recovered … and its now being hailed as one of the greatest-ever undersea treasure finds. And likely the only time an octopus made the initial discovery!\r

Ghost Fleet -- over 40 perfectly preserved shipwrecks were discovered recently on the floor of the Black Sea. A mapping expedition accidently discovered the ancient shipwrecks at depths of 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) … researchers used a pair of Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to survey the area. The Black Maritime Archaeology Project was originally carrying out geophysical surveys. The ships have been identified as belonging to the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires … Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as the Byzantine Empire conducted many ivities on the Black Sea. The ships perfectly preserved condition is attributed to the Black Seas lower, anoxic (ah-nox-ik) level. Archaeologists call is a ‘dead zone … a part of the Black Sea that contains no light or oxygen. The organisms that normally feast on organic materials like wood cannot exist in this environment. Its thought the findings will provide new insights regarding those communities living on the coast of the Black Sea.\r

Sea Bells -- Some truly bizarre structures were located in an underwater cave in Yucatan, Mexico. Weird looking stalites shaped like bells are hidden deep within huge cenotes (seh-no-tees) … or naturally formed sinkholes made of limestone. Mayans used some of them for a source of fresh water and built their towns around them. These stalites came in a vast array of sizes … some are miniscule while others are as large as a person. Experts say the stalites are created by minerals in water dripping from the cave ceiling. But while most have pointed tips, these have formed into bell-like shapes. Its thought that wind blowing in the caves might be the reason for the unusual shapes … but no one really knows for sure. One thing is for certain … these structures were formed over thousands of years. A typical stalite can take 100 years to grow one inch! Some days I wake up with nearly crippling anxiety for no apparent reason. This was one of those days unfortunately and after suffering through my physical symptoms for many hours like I often do, I decided to take 1 mg of Ativan (Benzodiazepine) and film my experience on it and how it affected my anxiety. \r

My Story\r

My name is Noah and on May 18 new, I had a rare reion to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRIs SNRIs Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last year and 10 months, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor.\r

I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time!
