How an Electric Steering Rack Works
In this video two steering racks are taken apart to demonstrate how they work inside.\r
\r
The steering rack on a car is responsible for turning the rotational motion of the steering wheel into a horizontal translation motion that push the wheels in and out via the tie rods. This results in the front wheels turning.\r
\r
Rack and pinion steering consists of a housing, within which there is a tube, called the rack, with teeth. The teeth engage the input shaft thats connected to the steering wheel, and is called the pinion gear.\r
\r
In this video 2016 Toyota Camry and 2016 Chevrolet Cruze steering racks are cut open to show their internal workings. The Toyota rack is a basic rack and pinon setup and is purely a mechanical mechanism, since its electric power assist comes from a motor mounted on the steering shaft above. \r
\r
The Chevy steering rack has a servo motor and a computer that aids with the assist, and it comes as an assembly mounted to the rack itself. The steering angle input sensor sends a signal to the computer, sitting behind the motor. The motor is then turned on to allow an electric assist to aid in steering the wheels. It is connected to the rack via a recirculating ball type mechanism. The steering input shaft meanwhile, connects to the rack on the drivers side via a traditional spiral gear.Ver video "How an Electric Steering Rack Works"

Surrounded by body bags - Putin's 'war crimes' only strengthen Ukraine's resolve
The devastating civilian attacks only seem to have hardened the resolve of the Ukrainians with their leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy slapping in his application for the country to become a member of NATO. Special correspondent @AlexCrawfordSky Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player There was an awful near silence as the war crime investigators went about their business and the bodies of the victims were methodically packed into body bags. We counted at least 15 body bags being loaded one on top of each other into a succession of ambulances. The death toll is higher and includes several children, one a baby just a few months old. The attack was so swift and so deadly, when we arrived at the scene, many of the victims were still where they had died. An elderly man's hand was still clasping his steering wheel, frozen in time, his body slumped sideways onto the passenger seat. Two young women were laying on the ground outside their vehicle, their legs at grotesque angles a

MY SUMMER CAR is the ultimate car owning, building, fixing, tuning, maintenance AND permadeath life survival simulator. You start the game with hundreds of loose parts and assemble both car and engine. Not only you need to maintain your car, but yourself as well. Sausages, beer and sleeping will do just fine.\r
\r
If everything goes well, you have a working car which you can use for various 1990s Finnish countryside summer ivities. Basically doing stupid things under influence of alcohol. After you have gathered extra money from various random jobs, you can start to tune and upgrade the car with parts ordered via snail mail. You can turn the car into a obnoxious bass-boom disco machine.. or into a rally car to participate rally competitions. or just fix it into perfect fory condition. Of course car also needs to pass the inspection or you might get into trouble with police.\r
\r
Not only you have access to one car, but also several other cars and vehicles which you can use. (Mostly useful to get groceries and for towing the project car from some ditch, again).\r
\r
Warning, this game is not for fainted heart. Severe car fever is required to play this properly due to its autistic approach on car building.\r
\r
- Full car assembly with over hundred parts\r
- Detailed driving and engine simulation\r
- Various other vehicles, cars and boat to use and drive\r
- Dozens of kilometers worth of dirt and paved roads with AI traffic\r
- Random paying jobs to cover food, beverage and fuel expenses\r
- Rally event to participate in\r
- Permanent death\r
- Sauna bathing\r

Thrustmaster T500RS Sparco Racing Steering Wheel Upgrade - Hub Adapter
Time to upgrade the Obutto R3volution gaming platform by putting a new steering wheel on my Thrustmaster T500RS. I went with a Sparco street wheel because it has tons of padding and feel great in my hands. I used the T500AD adapter from DSD Technology Systems Corporation to adapt the 70mm bolt pattern of the wheel to the native hub based T500RS design. I obtained the wheel for $200 from 425 Motorsports in Bellevue, WA and I couldnt be happier with the end results!\r
\r
•IGN 8/10 After playing Gran Turismo 5 with the Thrustmaster T500 RS, I never wanted to go back to a PlayStation DualShock controller. But the cost of the system makes it impossible to recommend to all but the most hardcore Gran Turismo 5 fanatics. If you are currently playing GT5 with a standard PlayStation 3 DualShock controller while rolling around on a pile of gold doubloons, then do yourself a favor and pick up a T500. But be warned -- youll need something sturdy to clamp it to. As much fun as it might sound to hold something called a Thrustmaster in your lap, its not going to work with this one. Overall, the Thrustmaster T500 RS is a great piece of hardware that does the GT5 name proud. It brings the track alive, but at a terrible price.\r
•Engadget 6/10 At $599 its awfully hard to recommend this wheel and pedal combination. The wheel itself has a magnificent feel thats beginning to knock on the door of much more expensive offerings like a Frex or ECCI, and the number of inputs makes managing button-happy cars easier. But, those buttons are hard to find while driving and the rubber coating feels unfortunately low-rent. The massive size of the thing makes it best suited for semi-permanent installations and the limited PS3 compatibility is, for the moment at least, a disappointment. Meanwhile the pedals are overkill yet underwhelming. Theyre heavy and wont go anywhere but all that weight feels excessive, unnecessary, and adorned with rubber feet that kept falling off. Not exly what youd expect for $599. Ultimately either the Logitech G27 or the Fanatec line of wheels offer nearly as good performance at a much more palatable cost -- and with designs less likely to give you a hernia when hauling about the house.\r
•VirtualR.net So, is the T500 RS as innovative as the long feature list and the rather hefty price tag of 499€/$599 suggests? In one word: Yes! Dont get fooled by the Gran Turismo badge, this wheel is most likely the most advanced product ever offered in this price range. The wheels precision is unmatched and the very strong & silent force feedback even edges out Fanatecs Turbo S wheel.I´ve reviewed quite a lot of wheels and I´ve never instantly clicked with a new product as I did with the T500 RS. Usually, it takes me a bit of time to get up to speed with a new wheel but the T500 RS gave me instant confidence thanks to the great force feedback and the overall amazing feel provided when driving. Sadly, the pedal unit falls a bit off in terms of features, a load-cell brake would have been a fitting feature to make the pedals match the wheel and make it easier for more professional racers to consider switching to the T500 RS. Thrustmaster has put together a wheel that can compete even with professional wheels from niche-manufurers that often sell for more than three times the price. And while some competitors might offer some features the T500 RS does not have (more expensive materials, a built-in display) the wheel is certainly the new benchmark in terms of precision, raw force feedback power and overall feel that will satisfy even the most demanding sim racers.\r
•Simulation World 94/100 This is an amazing product that really has targeted a market and a price point and hit a home run right away. They were a little hard to get hold of for a while but are now beginning to spring up in retail stores in the US and Europe. If in doubt, check Frys.com and amazon.com to see if they are in stock. If you have the cash and are looking to upgrade from a Logitech but cant stomach the price of a ECCI, then this is the wheel for you. Just be prepared for a bit of an adjustment and a learning curve for the fixed paddles. This show is an independent production of Jerry Berg (aka Barnacules). Mountain Bike Anatomy - 50 parts in 5 minutes
This is a mountain bike, and at the heart of any bike is its frame. Lets start with the parts of the frame. This here is the top tube, the down tube, the seat tube, the seat stay, and the chain stay. This area down here is called the bottom bracket shell. At the very front of your bike is the head tube, which houses the steerer tube. This moves smoothly thanks to a set of cups and bearings collectively known as the headset. Above that are headset spacers and the stem. The stem, which clamps on to your handlebars, is fastened to the steerer tube with a top cap and pinch bolts. On your handlebars youll find brake levers, shifters, grips, and end plugs. All this stuff up here is collectively known as the cockpit. \r
\r
Moving down is your fork, which in this case is a suspension fork. This top piece is called a crown. Some bikes are fitted with dual crown forks for added strength. The crown is what holds your stanchions, which you should try as hard as possible not to scratch. Dont hang your bike by the stanchions.\r
\r
Down here is your brake caliper, which camps down on your rotor when you squeeze your brake lever. Some calipers are mechanical, while others are hydraulic. Hydraulic brakes push fluid through a hose, while mechanical brakes pull the caliper using a cable. \r
\r
This big round thing is a wheel. If you buy a front and back wheel together, its called a wheelset. All the parts of your wheels are held together using spokes, which connect to your rim with these little guys. Theyre called nipples. Also on the rim is a valve stem which is used for pumping air into your tires. At the center of the wheel is the hub, and inside the hub are bearings. The hub rotates around an axle. On a lot of mountain bikes this takes the form of a thru axle, which can be removed or installed by hand.\r
\r
On the rear wheel a cassette hub. This has a ratcheting mechanism built into it which is made to accept a cassette. The cassette is a set of cogs which can ually be changed to your liking. The size of each cog is measured by the number of teeth it has, and these teeth are specially designed to work with a chain. Your chain is made up of individual links, with one link in particular being possible to unfasten easily. This is called a master link. \r
\r
The chain can be shifted up and down the cassette with a derailleur, which is attached to the bike via a small breakable part called a derailleur hanger. If your derailleur hanger snaps or bends, you can just get a new one. On the derailleur itself is a long spring loaded piece called the cage, which keeps tension on the chain. The chain passes through the upper pulley and lower pulley, also known as the jockey and idler respectively. \r
\r
Moving down to the bottom bracket shell, youll find your crankset, with the most visible parts being the crank arms. The crank arms are attached to the spindle, which runs through a set of bearings which are inside the bottom bracket shell. The spindle and bearings collectively are known as the bottom bracket.\r
\r
The part with all the teeth is called the chainring. Some bikes have up to 3 of these. At the end of the crank arms are pedals, which can be found in many different forms. The crankset, chain, derailleur and cassette are collectively known as your drivetrain.\r
\r
On a full suspension mountain bike youll find a variety of stuff connecting the front and rear of the bike together, known as the suspension linkage. At the heart of all this is your shock. This is usually fastened to the linkage on one side, and to your top tube or down tube on the other.\r
\r
Moving up, we have the seat, or saddle. The two words are interchangeable, but some people think its pretentious to call it a saddle. Personally I dont care what you call it as long as you dont correct other people. In any case this is most definitely not a saddle post, its a seat post, and its held on to your bike with a seat post clamp, or collar. These days a lot of seat posts can be adjusted on the fly. Those are called dropper posts.\r
\r
So I just named well over 50 parts of a mountain bike, but all of these parts can be broken down into hundreds more. So, put those terms down in the comments, and if youre really bored see if you can come up with an ex count of the terms I used in this video. Also, tell me how you pronounce derailleur. Are you one of those people who say “derailleeyur?”. In any case thanks for riding with me today, Ill see you next time.Ver video "Mountain Bike Anatomy - 50 parts in 5 minutes"
2017 Mercedes-AMG GT C 550Hp - Perfect Roadster!!
2018 Mercedes-AMG GT / GT C Roadster: AMG Blows Its Top
The wildest AMG drops its top and adds a higher-horsepower variant.
It's kind of a no-brainer, adding a convertible version of the Mercedes-AMG GT. Its predecessor, the SLS, was offered as a roadster, and Mercedes-Benz has a long tradition of open sports cars. Indeed, an AMG GT roadster was ready for production some time ago. Part of what has kept the company from launching it earlier was concern that it would hurt sales of the Mercedes-Benz SL. Maybe it will. But now it's here: Meet the AMG GT roadster—and its wilder derivative, the AMG GT C roadster.
The roofectomy works well, because the AMG GT was designed from the outset to be a roadster. The compact, muscular rear end works well with the long hood and the low profile. This is a sports car that evokes classic roadsters of the 1950s and ’60s.
The AMG GT roadster comes in two versions: There's a standard GT, rated at 469 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque; it charges from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 3.9 seconds and tops out at a governed 188 mph; above that, AMG is launching a new power and equipment level, the GT C, which sits above the GT S but below the GT R versions of the coupe. (Mercedes is mum on the subject of a GT C hardtop.) The GT C roadster makes 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque, it’s said to hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, and the governor is reprogrammed to 196 mph. We suspect AMG wants to save the 200-plus-mph software for a Black Series version, which is sure to hit showrooms eventually. All AMG GT models are powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, internally code-named M178.
The roadster sits atop the same chassis that forms the basis of the remarkably capable AMG GT coupe. The GT C further adds to its capabilities by fitting a number of enhancements that surpass even the GT S coupe, because they’re taken from the GT R. They include rear-wheel steering, which turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front wheels at lower speeds, and in the same direction at 62 mph and above, to enhance agility and high-speed stability.
The GT C roadster also comes with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, whereas the regular GT roadster lacks that feature. The gearing of the GT C’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is revised, and the drive mode selector offers an additional Race mode. A lithium-ion battery saves valuable pounds. And perhaps most obviously, the AMG GT C roadster is wider—by a whopping 2.3 inches. The wider rear track enables cornering-enhancing wider tires, and it lends a distinct look to this most extreme of AMG roadsters.
Up front, both the roadsters are fitted with the new Panamericana grille first seen on the GT R. It is part of a front fascia that includes active aero elements. Eventually the GT and GT S hardtops will receive the new front end as well.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but the base roadster is sure to exceed the standard coupe’s tariff of $112,125. And with the GT S hardtop at $132,125, the GT C convertible could be in the $150K neighborhood. We expect the new model to appear at dealerships by fall 2017.Ver video "2017 Mercedes-AMG GT C 550Hp - Perfect Roadster!!"
