How to Make Watermelon Cookies!

Hey everyone! Ive always thought that refrigerator cookies were cute, and these watermelon cookies are a perfect start for a beginner! Theyre so yummy and taste like a mix between a shortbread and sugar cookie! It would also be awesome if you flavored them with Jello so that they would taste like a watermelon too. I hope you guys give this recipe a try, and if you do be sure to post them on my Facebook so I can feature your creations!\r

Recipe adapted from Taste of Home\r
\r
Ingredients: \r
3/4 cup butter\r
3/4 cup sugar\r
1 egg\r
1/2 tsp. vanilla extr\r
2 cups all-purpose flour\r
1/4 tsp. baking soda\r
Pinch of salt\r
Red and green gel food coloring\r
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips\r
\r
Directions:\r
1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extr. Combine the flour, salt and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. \r
2. Remove 1 cup of dough; set aside. Add enough red food coloring to tint remaining dough deep red. Roll into a 6 in. log; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours. \r
3. Divide the 1 cup of reserved dough into two pieces. To one piece, add enough green food coloring to tint dough deep green. Leave remaining dough plain. Wrap each piece separately in plastic wrap; chill until firm, about 1 hour. \r
4. On a lightly floured surface, roll white dough into a 6 in. by 6.5 in. rectangle. Place red dough along short end of rectangle. Roll up and encircle red dough with white dough; set aside. \r
5. On a lightly floured surface, roll the green dough into a 6 in by 6.75 in. rectangle. Place log of red and white dough along the short end of green dough. Roll up with green dough. Cover tightly with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 2 hours or until firm\r
6. Unwrap dough and cut into 1/4 to 1/8 in. slices, and cut slices in half again into semicircles. Press mini chocolate chips face down into cookies. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. \r
7. Bake at 350° for 9-11 minutes or until cookies are firm but not brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. \r

This is a single serve unit. The Zoku comes with the stainless steel inner bowl, outer sleeve, spoon and instruction manual with some recipes. It is BPA free. \r
The unit is the size of a cereal bowl. It comes in lots of fun colors, this pretty blue, red, lime green, orange, purple and light blue. To make ice cream, take the inner bowl out of the outer sleeve. Put this in the freezer upright for 12 hours. While its freezing, make your ice cream mixture. Any mixture you use has to be chilled and at 40 degrees fahrenheit or less. So the longer you chill the mixture, the better. Im making vanilla ice cream and am using the recipe from the manual. The recipes in the manual make 6 5 oz servings. I just cut the recipe to two servings so I have 10 ounces here. This is ½ cup milk, ½ cup cream, ⅓ cup sugar, pinch of salt and 1.5 tsps vanilla extr. Make sure to stir the ingredients for about 3 minutes because the sugar and salt have to be completely dissolved. Its an extremely simple recipe. I could just drink this, its sö good. \r

My ice cream mixture is chilled. The bowl has been in the freezer for over 12 hours. Put the bowl in the outer sleeve. There is no locking or snapping, the bowl just sits in the sleeve. Use 5 ounces of ice cream mixture. I like to put my mixture in a measuring cup in the fridge, its so much easier to know how much to pour, theres no guessing. Ill start my timer. Immediately after you pour the mixture, start scraping the bowl with the included spoon. Scrape the mixture into the middle, stir and scrape continuously. If you wait too long to stir, the ice cream could really harden up and be harder to scrape. Clean the spoon on the edge of the bowl. You can see the ice cream is starting to get thick. This is the time to add any toppings you might want to - chocolate chips or crumbled up cookies, candy, berries, whatever you like. The ice cream is formed in 5 minutes. If you want very hard ice cream, put the bowl in the fridge for 10 - 20 minutes. The outer sleeve cannot go in the freezer.\r

Wash the ice cream maker in warm, soapy water. This is not dishwasher safe. If the outer sleeve gets stuck, rinse the whole thing under warm water and twist the sleeve off. You can separate the unit like this to clean and it just snaps back together. Dont scrub or use any utensils other than the included spoon. Dry the unit and store it in your freezer so its ready to pull out when you want ice cream. \r

The Zoku is a good single serve ice cream maker. Its great for people who want to make healthier frozen desserts and also those who believe in portion control. If you start scooping store bought ice cream, itll definitely turn out to be more than 5 ounces. As with any ice cream maker, its nice to be able to control the ingredients that go into your dessert. I think this will also be fun for kids. Of course youll have to get them each their own unit but itll keep them busy for a few minutes. \r

1 When you go out and you get ready, you put everything on your bag, but youre afraid that you are going to scratch your new phone with your keys. So to avoid this you can take your case and put it the other way around and that way your phone will be super safe of scratches while its in your purse.\r
\r
2 So next Im going to show you three easy ways to make a phone holder, They are pretty popular already but really cool too, so the first one is to just use a pair of sunglasses. The second one its pretty impressive, you just need a bottle cap and make some little cuts on the sides like so, and your phone will stay up! \r
The last one is my favorite and is using a tape case, I ually already show you how to decorate one in one of my old videos, but just in case youre new or didnt know this, here it is! I think its super cool and perfect for your desk. And you can also use it to watch videos. \r
\r
3 I dont know if it happens to you but my phones power button is tiny, and sometimes at night I cant seem to find it, so I discovered that there is an option in setting, where you can turn on the screen by double tapping, what makes using the phone a lot easier at night. Of course I dont know of it will work with your phone, but you should definitely try it.\r
\r
4 And my phone also has another option that I dont know if other phones have, perfect for winter, for when you use gloves, because regular gloves usually dont work on smartphones. And it is on settings and as you can see it is a gloves mode, so you dont have to worry about buying special gloves for winter. Let me know if your phone also has this feature because I would love to know!\r
\r
5 You can have a regular lockscreen on your phone, or an emergency lockscreen. You can do it with any app that allows you to add text, Im using snapseed, which is free, so just choose the pic you like and add your more relevant info, you can change the font and size, like your name, medical information or an emergency cont, so for example if you lose your phone the person who finds it can cont you, at least if they have good intentions!\r

6 If you are anything like me, you surely love instagram, I love taking pictures and selfies and then editing them, so I will show you a trick in vsco cam in case you didnt know, so instead of editing all your pics the same way to get a cool feed you can copy the edits from one pic and paste them on your last photo, or on any photos you want so you dont have to edit all of your pictures one by one, and still have the perfect theme!\r
\r
7 But you know sometimes even if you edit all your pictures the same way, when you upload them they ended up not matching your feed completely, and youre like why??\r
So one thing you can do is create a new instagram account, with another email that you may have, and then make it private. That way you can upload your pictures there first and see if they look good together, and delete and reupload them as many times as you want before uploading them to your real account. There are apps that do this for you, but you have to pay for them so, this is an simple way to test your pics!\r
\r
8 If you are studying and the lights go off, a super cool trick you can do is place your flashlight underneath a bottle of water and it willas a lamp, it gives a decent amount of light and really is also super pretty. This hack is also pretty popular, but it is so cool, that I have to show you guys, in case you didnt know!\r

9 So Im sure that when you go to bed, you go to bed with your phone, and that can be bad for your sleep because of the blue light from the screen tells our brains that is daytime and we should be awake! So a way to avoid this is using an app called twilight, which takes out the blue light from the screen, making it redder, so that way you can use your phone at night and not lose sleep over it!\r

10 So youre just hanging out and suddenly youre like….where is my phone?? And it is on silent! But dont worry! You can still find it. So go to google play, with the email you have on your phone, and download android device manager, and it will download the app on your phone, then you can go to device manager, and make it sound, and it will sound at full volume, so you can find the phone even if it is in the weirdest place! \r

Khaman Dhokla is one of the famous Gujju dish and enjoyed throughout the world.This light snack is easy to make and tempting to taste.\r

Ingredients:\r
\r
2.5 cup besan (bengal gram flour)\r
2 tsp sugar\r
3 green chilli \r
1 tbsp salt \r
1 tbsp turmeric\r
1 tbsp baking powder\r
A pinch of baking soda\r
3 cups water for mixture and sugar syrup\r
2 1/2 tsp oil for greasing and cooking\r
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)\r
10 curry leaves (kadi patta)\r
1 tsp citric acid (nimbu ka phool) or 1 tsp lemon juice\r
\r
For The Garnish:\r
\r
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)\r
\r
Method :\r
\r
1. Combine the besan, turmeric, lemon juice, salt and water to make a smooth batter.\r
\r
2. Keep the mixture aside for 30 minutes.\r
\r
3. After 30 minutes add baking powder and soda ,whisk quickly and add to the greased tray.\r
\r
4. Place the greased tray in preheated Dhokla stand and cook for 25 minutes on lower flame.\r
\r
5. After 25 minutes check with the help of fork, if the fork comes out clean that means your Dhokla is ready.\r
\r
6. Allow Dhokla to cool, then cut in desired shape and place in fridge for 15 minutes.\r
\r
For Sugar Syrup:\r
\r
1. Heat 2 tsp of oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds.\r
\r
2. When the seeds crackle, add curry leaves and cook till they are little brown, then add 2 cups of water ,sugar and let it come to a boil.\r
\r
3. Add one tbsp lemon juice and cook till the syrup is little thick ,less than one thread consistency.\r
\r
4. Remove from the flame and allow to cool.\r
\r
Pour this tempering syrup over the dhoklas and garnished with coriander leaves.\r
\r

Try this simply divine, moist strawberry cake recipe from scratch. Some like to refer this to the Southern strawberry cake recipe or jello cake. \r
\r
This simple cake recipe is good for two 8 or 9 pans. Remember homemade strawberry cake has less sugar and preservatives than commercial strawberry cake box mixes\r
\r
Bake time is approx 40-45 minutes. Check baking progress about 37 minutes in to avoid over-baking. Also, watch my YouTube demo for ex preparations steps.\r
\r

Begin by preheating oven to 350 degree.\r
\r
Coat the bottom on your pan with shortening, top with a parchment round and baking spray with flour. I would highly recommend using grade AA or A unsalted butter, such as Land O Lake. Measure all ingredients accurately and bring the butter and eggs to room temperature.\r
\r
1-Combine the packet of strawberry Jello\r
\r
2. Scrabble the egg(s).\r
\r
3.Thoroughly mix the flour, salt and baking powder with a wire whisk before sifting them. This will ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the batter. I prefer to sift my dry ingredients onto parchment paper because its easier to divide the mixture into three portions using a bench scraper.\r
\r
4. Kitchen Aid mixers are the creme de la creme of mixers, but they are also more expensive. Using a hand-held mixer will give you similar results, but more careful attention is required during the mixing process. If using a hand-held mixer, mix on medium to high.\r
\r
5. Creaming the butter:\r
\r
Place the butter/shortening in your mixing bowl, using the paddle attachment beat the fat on low-speed. Once the butter and shortening is incorporated,slowly drizzle the sugar/jello mixture . Once the sugar and fat are blended, cream the mixture at a moderate speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. This process may take anywhere from 4-6 minutes. The consistency of the sugar/butter should be similar to marshmallow fluff and will also lighten in color. I left the youtube clip(s) normal speed, normally I increase the film speed. However, this was purposely done to illustrate the importance of creaming the fat and sugar.\r
\r
6. Add the vanilla extr\r
\r
7. Slowly begin to drizzle the egg (s) and beat on low speed until the eggs are absorbed into the mixture. This will take anywhere from 2-4 minutes depending on your mixer.\r
\r
8. Stop mixing and thoroughly scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure even mixing.\r
\r
9.Alternate between the dry and wet ingredients. Begin by adding a third of the dry (flour,salt,baking powder) mixing just until blended, then add 1/2 the milk and blend on low speed. Stop the mixer and thoroughly scrap down the bowl to ensure even mixing. Add the 2nd portion of the dry ingredients and mix on low speed for about 30 seconds, stop and scrap the bowl. Add the remaining portion of milk and on low speed mix for another 20 seconds or so. Stop the mixer;scrap the bowl thoroughly before adding the last batch of dry ingredients. Add the last portion of the dry ingredients and mix on low speed just until its blended. Its important not to over-mix or it may cause the development of gluten in the strawberry cake, which will give the cake a tough texture.\r
\r
10.Equally divide your batter among your pans and place them in the center rack of the oven. Allow enough space in between the cakes for proper circulation. Bake for 30-35 for two 6 cakes, and 40-45 minutes for two 8 or 9 cakes (check the cake 27 minutes in to avoid over-baking. Cake is done when a wooden pick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.\r
\r
10. Allow cakes to cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes before turning them out.\r
\r
11. Cake must cool completely before frosting.\r
\r
\r

Shawarma sandwiches are a tasty way to add meat to pita bread or similar unleavened bread. Chicken makes a good filling because it is easy to cut into sandwich sized slices and tastes delicious.\r

Shawarma is vastly popular across the middle-east. Chicken baked in a yoghurt marinade, rolled up in pita bread and served with tahini.\r

Ingredients - How to make Lebanese Chicken Shawarma Wrap - Delicious Spicy Chicken Shawarma\r

*My 1 tbsp Oil = 50 ml or (One Ladle = 50 ml)\r
\r
*2 whole Boneless Chicken Large Breast\r
*6-8 Pita Bread \r
*1/2 tsp Black cardamom powder\r
*2 tsp Garam Masala Powder\r
*1 tsp Black pepper powder\r
*2 tbsp Minced garlic or finely chopped Garlic\r
*2 tbsp Yoghurt/Curd\r
*3 tsp Olive oil or Vegetable Oil\r
*1 tsp Red chilli powder\r
*2 tbsp Malt vinegar, Apple cider vinegar or white balsamic vinegar\r
*3 tbsp Lemon Juice\r
*Salt to Taste\r
*2 Cup Shredded Cabbage\r
*1 Fresh parsley Sprigs (Optional)\r
*1/2 cup chopped cucumber\r
*1/2 cup chopped Beetroot\r
*1/2 cup chopped Tomato\r

Shawarma White Sauce\r
*7 finely chopped Garlic cloves\r
*3 tbsp Fresh cream\r
*3 tbsp Mayonnaise\r
*2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar\r
or white vinegar\r
*1 tsp Black pepper powder\r

Okay, so technically this recipe should ually be called Shawarma-Style Chicken. True shawarma is cooked with stacked, spice-marinated meats lamb, turkey, chicken, beef, or a mix of meats on a vertical spit. \r

The shawarma turns and cooks on the spit for hours and hours, basted in fat and its own juices. Fat = flavor = tasty, amazing shawarma. Thin slices of meat are shaved from the surface and served, either on their own or tucked inside a warm flatbread, topped with tahini or garlic sauce. Shawarma is one of lifes great pleasures.\r

Ive been trying to replicate the flavor of shawarma at home for months, playing with different spice combinations and cooking methods. At first I tried buying premade shawarma spice blends from the Middle Eastern markets, but none of them made my mouth happy. I needed more spice, more flavor, more oomph. So I began to experiment. Then finally, last week, I nailed it.\r

This recipe is probably as close as Ill ever come to making shawarma at home. My family says its even better than the shawarma at our local Lebanese restaurant. \r

You have two choices for cooking this recipe in the oven or on the grill. To be honest both cooking methods taste great, there really isnt a big difference between the two. \r
\r
I use boneless skinless chicken meat (a combination of dark and light meat) in the recipe. Shawarma gets a lot of its flavor from the meat fat that it is basted in. Ive replaced the flavor of the skin fat with olive oil, including a final saute in olive oil prior to serving. \r

It may seem strange to saute meat that has already been cooked, but youre going to have to trust me on this one. The extra saute adds a ton of flavor and really gives it a shawarma-like texture that cant be replicated in the oven or on the grill. \r

If youre trying to cut down on your oil intake you dont need to do the extra saute, it will save you 2 tablespoons of olive oil… it wont taste exly like shawarma, but it will be yummy. But please, dont replace the chicken thighs with breast meat. \r

This dish really needs some dark meat in it to make it taste great. You can make it with all chicken thighs, if you prefer (I ually love it that way), but dont sub all chicken breast. Pretty please.\r

La polución cierra tres días las escuelas del estado indio de Delhi

La polución ha cerrado tres días unas 1.800 escuelas en el estado indio de Delhi. Lo ha anunciado el Gobierno local, argumentando que se enfrentan a uno de los peores episodios de contaminación del aire de los últimos años.

Otras de las medidas de emergencia tomadas han sido prohibir durante cinco días todas las obras de construcción y demolición, cerrar una central eléctrica, reforzar la lucha contra los incendios en los vertederos y regar con agua las carreteras.

Los habitantes de la capital india conviven con una espesa y peligrosa nube tóxica desde hace una semana. Centenares de ellos se han manifestado en la capital india para exigir soluciones.

“Vivo en Nueva Delhi desde hace treinta años y nunca me he sentido así. Si estás en la planta baja es mejor, pero si subes a un tercer o cuarto piso tienes que dar marcha atrás”, decía un manifestante.

“La gente debe ser consciente de que nuestros hijos están sufriendo, todos estamos sufriendo. Nuestros niños no pueden salir y trepar a los árboles… Construimos grandes parques para que jueguen en nuestras escuelas, pero no podemos dejarlos salir. Tenemos días rojos, en los que los niños están encerrados, prisioneros de sus máscaras”, lamentaba una manifestante.

Uno de cada siete niños en el mundo, unos 300 millones de pequeños, respiran un aire tóxico, que en ocasiones supera hasta seis veces las normas internacionales, según un reciente informe de Unicef.

Nueva Delhi, la más contaminada
Con 17 millones de habitantes y 10 millones de vehículos circulando por sus calles, Nueva Delhi cuenta con el triste título de ser la capital más contaminada del planeta. Además del intenso tráfico, han contribuido a ello su rápida urbanización, las masivas emisiones industriales y las centrales de carbón. De hecho, la India tiene 13 de las 20 ciudadades con más polución del mundo.

Las festividades de Diwali, para celebrar el año nuevo, con petardos y cohetes, y la quema de restos agrícolas en estados adyacentes a la capital india contribuyeron a empeorar la situación en Nueva Delhi.
