La combinación de Gamificación y Game Based Learning es habitual en el desarrollo de serious games, sin embargo, es importante saber a qué se refieren ambos términos.
Mientras gamificación es el uso de elementos motivadores (por ejemplo marcadores) que incentiven la competición entre los usuarios; game based learning se refiere al area cognitiva del producto, a su apariencia y a su atractivo visual.
Es decir game-based learning es la técnica utilizada en formación en la cual utiliza el formato videojuego para presentar los contenidos teóricos a los usuarios.
Las características fundamentales que definen Game Based Learning son:
1. El aprendizaje debe llevarse a cabo por medio de escenarios atractivos para el usuario
2. Debe llevarse a cabo una evolución, mediante la superación de diferentes incógnitas.
4. Debe crear una experiencia de aprendizaje positiva
Mientras los formatos de formación presencial y e.-learning son limitados, bien por su exceso de contenido teórico o por su complicada implementación y costes. Los cursos Game based ofrecen una solución eficiente para la formación en habilidades directivas de manera didáctica, divertida y a un coste asequible.
Game based learning y simulación son habitualmente combinados en forma de serious games. La simulación hace posible el crear situaciones reales a través de las cuales los usuarios pueden poner en práctica sus habilidades.
Esto es especialmente interesante en la formación de habilidades directivas las cuales requieren de su puesta en práctica para ser dominadas e interiorizadas.
Tanto gamificación como game-based learning como serious games persiguen un mismo objetivo que es mejorar el compromiso de los alumnos. Aprendizaje por observacion
De los cientos de estudios de Bandura, un grupo se alza por encima de los demás, los estudios del muñeco bobo. Lo hizo a partir de una película de uno de sus estudiantes, donde una joven estudiante solo pegaba a un muñeco bobo. En caso de que no lo sepan, un muñeco bobo es una criatura hinchable en forma de huevo con cierto peso en su base que hace que se tambalee cuando le pegamos. Actualmente llevan pintadas a Darth Vader, pero en aquella época llevaba al payaso “Bobo” de protagonista. La joven pegaba al muñeco, gritando ¡“estúpidooooo”!. Le pegaba, se sentaba encima de él, le daba con un martillo y demás acciones gritando varias frases agresivas. Bandura les enseñó la película a un grupo de niños de guardería que, como podrán suponer ustedes, saltaron de alegría al verla. Posteriormente se les dejó jugar. En el salón de juegos, por supuesto, había varios observadores con bolígrafos y carpetas, un muñeco bobo nuevo y algunos pequeños martillos.

Aprendizaje: El refuerzo
El objetivo del aprendizaje por refuerzo es usar el premio-castigo para aprender una función, la cual permitirá tomar decisiones en el futuro de qué acción tomar a partir de una percepción del entorno. La función de agente utiliza la información contenida en él para realizar la toma de decisiones. De ahí el nombre de Aprendizaje por Refuerzo. Existen, no obstante, otros formalismos para aprender, mediante refuerzo, qué acción realizar en cada caso, como por ejemplo las Redes Neuronales. Este método de aprendizaje surge de una rama de estudios de psicología experimental, que pueden remontarse a las experiencias de Pavlov con el refuerzo condicionado, y por otro lado es heredero de los métodos de control óptimo que se originan a partir de los trabajos de Bellman. Dicho de forma breve, el aprendizaje por refuerzo es el problema de conseguir que un agente actúe en un entorno de manera que maximice la recompensa que obtiene por sus acciones.

Pulpos: Aprendizaje vicario
Octopus posee un sistema visual muy desarrollado (del que ya se apuntó algo en los comentarios de esta entrada) y presenta un comportamiento natural que es el de atacar a cualquier objeto que aparezca en su campo visual. Sin embargo, es capaz de inhibir esta respuesta cuando ese mismo objeto le produjo anteriormente una experiencia dolorosa, es decir, es capaz de establecer una memoria asociativa emocional. Pero lo interesante es que el pulpo presenta capacidad de aprendizaje por observación, de modo que si mientras un pulpo realiza la tarea anteriormente descrita se permite a otro que observe dicho aprendizaje, cuando se realiza la prueba a este segundo pulpo es capaz, con tan sólo haber observado tres ensayos del primero, de atacar sólo a la bola que le proporciona la recompensa.

Cerebro y aprendizaje motor: Peso y tamaño
En las últimas décadas ha existido un especial interés por las teorías que podrían explicar el gobierno del control motor y sus aplicaciones. Estas teorías suelen basarse en modelos de función cerebral, reflejando criterios filosóficamente diferentes sobre la forma en la que el movimiento es controlado por el cerebro, enfatizando cada una de ellas en los distintos componentes neurales del movimiento. Asimismo, en el contexto de las neurociencias, toma relevancia el concepto de aprendizaje motor, considerado como el conjunto de procesos internos asociados a la práctica, y la experiencia, que producen cambios relativamente permanentes en la capacidad de producir actividades motoras, a través de una habilidad específica. Por lo que ambos, control y aprendizaje motor, se posicionan como campos de estudio fundamentales para los profesionales sanitarios en el campo de la neurorrehabilitación.

Aprendizaje en bebes
El cerebro se desarrolla de distintas maneras. Tanto los genes como la experiencia influyen en la forma como se desarrolla el cerebro. Durante el embarazo, los genes juegan el papel más importante en determinar cómo se forma el cerebro y cómo funcionará. Esta es la conformación básica. Durante el embarazo y después del nacimiento, las experiencias que un bebé tiene ayudan a cambiar o modificar el cerebro. Esto es lo que ocurre con el aprendizaje. Los cambios en el cerebro son el resultado del aprendizaje.
Tres tipos de cambios pueden ocurrir cuando el cerebro “aprende” por medio de la experiencia. La estructura del cerebro puede cambiar, por ejemplo cuando se añaden o eliminan conecciones entre las células cerebrales. La cantidad de químicos que se utilizan al enviar mensajes a través del cerebro puede cambiar también. Y un área particular del cerebro puede volverse más activa. Los cambios son el resultado de la maduración y experiencia.
• Experiencias distintas tienen efectos distintos. Como los bebés, el cerebro no elige sus experiencias; responde tanto a las experiencias positivas como a las negativas. Las experiencias negativas pueden retardar el desarrollo cerebral y del comportamiento. Investigaciones conducidas principalmente con animales muestran que el exponer a un ser al estrés o tensión nerviosa (estando en el útero o después del nacimiento), provoca efectos dañinos en la estructura cerebral y en el funcionamiento del cerebro de las crías de los animales. Por ejemplo, las crias de las ratas a los cuales se les privó de contacto con sus madres mostraron luego dificultades de socialización y de tipo emocional.Ver video "Aprendizaje en bebes"
