Ack in the early 1970s, scientists at the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), which is part of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, made a series
of discoveries about bad breath. Put simply, what they
found was this: About 90% of all bad breath cases have
a single cause, and, for people in this group, the NIH
scientists literally fell over a specific combination of
common household ingredients that eliminated the bad
breath problem an incredible 96 times out of 100!

Obesidad morbida: El entrenador

Clarks recalls 8 styles of women's shoes over toxic chemical
Eight styles of women's shoes are being recalled globally by Clarks after tests found toxins in the products, the British retailer announced Thursday. "Some samples of these shoes identified excessive levels of the chemicals benzidine or dimethoxybenzidine that are found in azo dyes and are restricted in some jurisdictions," Clarks said in a news release. "Prolonged and direct contact with the shoes' upper material can expose the wearer to these chemicals, which are toxic and can cause adverse health effects." A potentially cancer-causing substance, benzidine is a synthetic chemical that has not been sold in the U.S. since the mid-1970s, according to the National Cancer Institute. The U.S. used large amounts of the chemical in the past for uses such as making dyes for cloth, paper and leather. The recalled shoes include the Breeze style in the Americas and the Brinkley style elsewhere, in all navy or dark navy-blue colored and introduced for the spring/summer 2022 season, Clarks stat

Top government researcher calls for easier access to drug that treats opioid use disorder: "No reason why not"
The top addiction researcher in the U.S. government is calling for the broad deregulation of methadone — a medication that can reduce dependency on opioids — in a major departure from how it is currently made available. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), made the comments Wednesday during the annual STAT Summit, a two-day event that gathers experts in various health and medical fields. Volkow addressed the summit Wednesday afternoon about "facing the addiction epidemic" in the U.S. In her comments, as reported by STAT News, Volkow was clear about her desire for methadone to be available by prescription. Currently, people who use methadone are required to go to clinics daily to get the medication, and the specialized clinics are few and far between in some areas. "There's absolutely no reason why not [to allow prescription of methadone]," Volkow told the summit, according to Stat News. "There are countries where physicians are providing methadone an
Boy dies from brain-eating amoeba possibly contracted at Lake Mead
A Nevada boy has died from a rare and often lethal brain infection that officials say he may have contracted while swimming in the eastern part of Lake Mead earlier this month, health officials said Wednesday. The boy, whose identity has not been released, visited the Arizona section of the reservoir at the beginning of October, according to the Southern Nevada Health District. The boy began to develop symptoms of an uncommon illness caused caused by Naegleria fowleri, an organism commonly known as a "brain-eating" amoeba because it attacks and destroys brain tissue, about one week after visiting Lake Mead, officials said. An investigation conducted by the health district in coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Naegleria fowleri as the boy's cause of death, the health district said. The amoeba occurs naturally in freshwater, especially in warmer bodies with low elevation, and has been found before in Lake Mead, according to the National Park S

Residents and Emergency Crews Evacuate After New Fuego Volcano Eruption
Officials have ordered new evacuations around Guatemala’s Fuego volcano after a second major eruption within three days sparked panic on Tuesday, June 5.
The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) tweeted that residents should evacuate in the communities of La Reyna, El Rodeo, Cañaveral I and IV, Hunapu, Magnoli, after a further eruption was reported.
These videos were captured by the the country’s Municipal Firefighters near the city of Escuintla. The first video shows firefighters evacuating highway 14, while the Fuego volcano spews a cloud of ash in the background.
The second video shows firefighters, residents and other emergency services evacuating from a petrol station on highway 14 near the volcano.
A spokesman for the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology warned that a new pyroclastic flow occurred at 2.25pm in the Las Lahas canyon, and El Jute area, La Prensa Libre reported.
He said there was a risk the flow could reach the Palín-Escuintla highway. The highway was subsequently closed to motorists, Guatemalan news site Soy502 reported.
At least 72 people were killed and 192 reported missing after the volcano erupted on Sunday, according to the BBC. Credit: Bomberos Municipales via Storyful

Esquizofrenia: Enfermedad cerebral (RMf)
Ver video "Esquizofrenia: Enfermedad cerebral (RMf)"
China refuses to ease draconian "zero-COVID" policy despite rising cases and human and economic pain
Beijing — Rumors that China might loosen its strict "zero-COVID" policy pushed up stock markets in China and brought a little hope that life in the country might return to something resembling normal late last week. By Monday morning, however, investors were once again grappling with the reality that China's enormous economic engine could remain in a lower gear for weeks to come. Senior officials killed hopes for a lifting of the draconian measures during a news conference on Saturday, reaffirming China's commitment to the strict lockdowns, mandatory quarantines and testing and business closures that Beijing has used for years in a bid to keep a lid on coronavirus outbreaks. National Health Commission official Hu Xiang characterized China's COVID-19 containment measures as "completely correct" and "the most economical and effective." But the policy doesn't seem to be working very well. China has not had an actual zero-COVID day — without a single registered domestic infection — since l
