En 1970 Wolfgang Kiessling puso en marcha el que se convertiría en uno de los zoológicos más importantes del mundo. Nacía, con vocación de apoyo a la conservación y cuidado de la fauna, Loro Parque.

Con una extensión de 132.000 m cuadrados, este objetivo se ha materializado en el desarrollo de los programas de cría y recuperación que ya han logrado salvar de la extinción a diez especies de loros, y que tiene en marcha más de 200 proyectos de conservación en los cinco continentes. Actualmente, más de 500 especies de mamíferos, primates o cetáceos conviven en un parque zoológico que es el primero del mundo en conseguir la autosuficiencia energética: Embajadores de la naturaleza que desempeñan una labor educativa y de divulgación imprescindible para la preservación de la fauna en el planeta.

En 1994 Kiessling crea Loro Parque Fundación, que ha destinado más de 23 millones de euros a proyectos tan relevantes como el estudio y la protección del océano que rodea a Canarias o a impulsar los proyectos de conservación de la fauna de Loro Parque. En 2017 inaugura el gran acuario Poema del Mar, en Gran Canaria, que ha conseguido ya el reconocimiento internacional a su labor en la conservación de especies.

Instructions for use:\r
\r
A) Affix handle (5). Thread the yarn (7) first through the lower guide (1) from the outside, then through the upper guide (2) and finally down through the central tube (3) of the knitting mill. \r
\r
B) Make sure that the tongues of all the needles (4) are pointing downwards and hold the knitting mill in your left hand. Also hold the yarn tightly in your left hand. \r
\r
C) Slowly turn the handle clockwise (5) until the first hook (4) picks up the yarn. Turn the handle forward only (in the direction of the arrow, never turn it backwards). Then pass the yarn behind the second needle, i.e. this needle is missed out. Continue to turn slowly until the third hook picks up the yarn. Hook the weight (6) onto the end of the yarn. Pass the yarn behind the fourth needle, missing it out. Continue to turn slowly. \r
\r
D) On the second turn all the hooks (4) pick up the yarn. From the third turn onwards the handle can be turned faster. Move the weight (6) up now and again. \r
\r
E) When beginning a new ball of wool, knot the yarn together, cut off the ends of the yarn and continue to turn slowly. Take care that the knot does not catch in the threading guides. \r
F) When you have finished, cut the yarn and continue turning until the knitted cord is thrown off the needles. Pull the end of the yarn through the open stitches tightly with a wool needle and stitch up. \r
\r
Tightly twisted wool, suitable for pin gauges 3 - 3.5 mm, gives the best results. \r
If the wool is not of a very good quality, i.e. if the wool is somewhat coarse, it will not glide so well which can lead to malfunctions. This also applies to very fibrous or fluffy wool such as mohair. During use, always make sure that the tongue of the needle which grasps the yarn is clipped downwards, the hooks close tightly and then completely release the yarn. The yarn must run loosely from the ball of wool (7). The weight should not pull the yarn downwards until the third hook grasps the yarn (3). \r

Toy Story 4 Trailer: Don't Toy With Me

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) today announced the appointment of Taiwan-based Next Media Animation to produce the next installment of the "Toy Story" franchise. "Toy Story 4: Don't Toy With Me", will appear in theaters the second half of 2011.

"Don't Toy With Me" picks up where Toy Story 3 left off. It follows the adventures of Andy, now a college drop-out struggling to adapt to life beyond the parental nest. As with the earlier Toy Story films, themes of friendship are prevalent, with Woody and Buzz Lightyear helping to guide Andy through a brutal and unforgiving world.

"The original Toy Story was released in 1995 and many of our fans are now in their mid- to late 20s," said Bea Warre, development executive at Disney. "This new installment re-boots the franchise and gives our now older fans a Toy Story they can relate to."

Next Media Animation was chosen for its lightning fast animation ability, allowing for a quick follow-up to the Toy Story franchise after Toy Story 3 was released just last year.

5 - Gak\r
This popular form of slime courtesy of those fine chaps at Nickelodeon had kids giggling with delight over one of the oldest jokes in human history, fart noises. Created by the toy company Mattel, these strange moulding compounds had to be properly stored in their molding case in order to avoid drying out. Stretch it, mold it, snap it, bounce it, love it, squeeze for stress relief or but the gak in the dark model to make yourself a super nifty retro glow in the dark goo flavored nightlight. There are a bunch of homemade recipes online which you can easily find, so feel free to do it yourself and enjoy countless hours of fart noises and stretchy gakky features. 4 - Skip It\r
Heres one which many of us have our wrinkled fingers crossed will make a comeback. Allow me to reintroduce the Skip It! This toy attaches to your foot with a circular hoop, a little plastic twine connects this to the ball at the end, which would record the number of spins as your legs hopped to kick it around and around your legs until you got exhausted or bashed the ball clean off, which happened more often than not, my neighbor busted mine and never replaced it, makes me all sad and nostalgic just remembering kicking the plastic shell in circles for hours. This little plastic toy was great exercise but again, attention spans were fast paced in the 1990s and the skip it was soon replaced by other things, but some of us remember the good times, spent chasing our skip its around in pleasant circular patterns. \r

3 - Pogs\r
These fad toys were ultra super popular for a few months in the 90s and then as fast as they came vanished without a trace, except for a few stubborn collectors who still have a crate of these milk cap inspired creations in their basement, because many of us refuse to let the 90s die! Originally conceived from a game played with milk caps, these pieces of thick cardboard shaped like circles would have decorative designs on one side and a brand name or white space on the other. A pog board could be purchased for cheap as well as a slammer, which is a much thicker version of a pog and youre ready to do battle! Kids would decide in the beginning to play for keeps or just for fun, or not for keeps, but most of us would peer pressure until the stakes were raised to keeps. U each place your pogs on the board face down, then bounce the slammer against the board, every pog which turns up face up with the design showing would be awarded to that player and so on until all the pogs were accredited for, the person with the most at the end wins. This is another crazy 90s fad which has many of us hoping will make a comeback so we can break out those circles of power and slammers of doom! \r

2 - Tamagotchi\r
Who can forget the first totally digital keychain pets! From those cats in Japan and the world of Bandi, these little computer babies became a huge fad, over 76 million were sold worldwide and then just as fast the tiny computerised creatures vanished from the face of the Earth. This probably had something to do with the f that if you left one alone in your locker during class or forgot about the little bugger in your pocket for an hour or so the little digital critter would die. This virtual pet required feeding, happiness and discipline, there were mini games to play and new candies to be earned, if you really tried and spent every waking hour taking care of the pixelated pet, they would grow from tiny babies to healthy bizarre extremely whiny needy creatures. They go from baby to child to teen to adult, however, most of us never had the attention span to make it passed teen and we would often return to find our beloved digital whatever creature these things are neglected and dead from starvation or living in its own filth. Maybe we should have just stuck to pet rocks. \r

The 2016 - 2017 toys feature porcupine Ash, koala Buster Moon, green iguana Ms. Crawly, mouse Mike, gorilla Johnny & elephant Meena. This is the Europe set of 6 Sing Happy Meal toys. The US has a full set of 7 Sing McDonalds toys including the 2 pigs Rosita & Gunter but minus Mike the white mouse. These Happy Meal toys will be available in many countries around the world including the USA, Canada, Europe (e.g. Germany, Austria, Spain, Turkey, UK), Asia (e.g. Philippines, Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia), Australia and Latin America!
