A duo of snails announces a flower pageant, with prizes given to those who participate. Many floats are in the parade. A hillbilly cactus sees the parade and wants to take part in it as well. He sprays some seeds onto a toy train and waters the seeds to produce various bluebells. The audience likes the cactus' float, but not the judges. The train spontaneously breaks, ejecting the cactus, and he becomes the laughing stock of the pageant. In another part of the garden, a match is lit by a magnifying glass and starts to incinerate the pageant. As many of the flowers and snails run away in fear, the cactus sees the fire and tries to put it out. His attempt to get rid of the fire with a sprinkler fails, as a flame manages to burn him in the back. However, a watermelon patch is good enough to stop the fire when he pokes holes in the watermelons. The cactus is now declared a hero. A small flame manages to escape being extinguished, but a grasshopper finds the flame and spits a curveball on it to finally put the fire out.

Before to the invention of the sawmill, boards were sawn by two men with a whipsaw, using saddleblocks to hold the log, and a pit for the pitman who worked below. Sawing was slow, and required strong and enduring men. The topsawer had to be the stronger of the two because the saw was pulled in turn by each man, and the lower had the advantage of gravity. The topsawyer also had to guide the saw so that the board was of even thickness. This was often done by following a chalkline.\r

Early sawmills simply adapted the whipsaw to mechanical power, generally driven by a water wheel to speed up the process. The circular motion of the wheel was changed to back-and-forth motion of the saw blade by a Connecting rod known as a pitman (thus introducing a term used in many mechanical applications). A pitman is similar to a crankshaft, but in reverse; a crankshaft converts back-and-forth motion to circular motion.\r

Generally, only the saw was powered, and the logs had to be loaded and moved by hand. An early improvement was the development of a movable carriage, also water powered, to steadily move the log through the saw blade.\r

A small mill such as this would be the center of many rural communities in wood-exporting regions such as the Baltic countries and Canada. The output of such mills would be quite low, perhaps only 500 boards per day. They would also generally only operate during the winter, the peak logging season.

Just like in any culture, Emirati weddings have their own unique traditions and customs.

In the UAE, the things that take place during an Emirati wedding might vary from one family to another depending on the culture and background of that family. But in general, all typical Emirati weddings share certain things that you might not have known about.

So here’s a quick guide to 16 things to know about an Emirati wedding (as shared by my Emirati friends):
1. The planning takes more than three months...
2. All invitation cards share this very important phrase: "no phones, no pictures and no children."
3. As a sign of respect during the ladies party, the guests are not supposed to dance until the elder ladies leave.
4. Recently, almost every Emirati wedding must have a theme, like "Alice in Wonderland" or "Winter Wonderland."
5. Contrary to common believe, not all Emiratis can afford a lavish wedding.
6. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, has promoted the "reception style wedding" for men.
This is to replace the rather expensive wedding parties and encourage young Emiratis to adopt a less extravagant approach to weddings.
7. There is a government backed initiative that calls for setting "the lowest dowry" between brides and grooms in a bid to ease the burden of marriage and its cost on young couples.
8. It is customary for the Emirati bride to walk "down the aisle" on her own.
9. In old traditions, the father of the bride would not attend his daughter’s wedding and sometimes he would travel outside the country on the day of the ceremony.
10. The idea of wearing a white dress is kind of recent.
Traditionally, the bride would wear either a red or a green dress on the henna night and decorate the look with yellow gold from head to toe.
11. The Henna drawing has changed from Arabic inspired motifs done exclusively on the palms of the hands, into Indian and Moroccan inspired drawings done all over the hands and feet.
12. There is a pre-wedding celebration where harees and khabees (traditional dishes) are distributed amongst relatives and friends.
13. The "Katb El-Kitab" in the Emirati dialect is called "Malcha" or "Malkah."
14. Presenting gifts to the bride on the wedding night is uncommon...
15. It is nearly impossible to make a small wedding with less than 200 guests...
Because it is considered "ayb" not to invite almost everyone in the neighborhood.
16. Back in the day, Emirati weddings used to take place in the afternoon. Now they happen in the evening.

Contra ReBirth (WiiWare) - Wii Longplay - Plissken Playthrough (FULL GAME).

Contra ReBirth is a 2D run and gun video game developed by M2 and published by Konami for WiiWare. It is the twelfth original installment in the Contra series. It was released in Japan on May 12, 2009, the PAL region on September 4, 2009, and North America on September 7, 2009.

Contra ReBirth retains the same sprite-based side-scrolling gameplay as the series' earlier installments. The game can be played with the standard Wii Remote, as well as with the Classic Controller or a Nintendo GameCube controller. As with most Contra games, up to two players can play simultaneously. The player initially has a choice between two different player characters: Bill Rizer, the traditional Contra hero, or Genbei Yagyu from Neo Contra. Two additional characters: Brownie (Tsugumin in the Japanese version), an android shaped like a small girl; and Plissken, a tall reptilian humanoid alien (whose name is a tribute to the Snake Plissken movie character), can also be selected once the player has completed the game on Easy (Brownie) and Normal (Plissken).

The dual weapon system from Contra III: The Alien Wars returns and the player's normal gun can now shoot in autofire once again. The power-ups in this installment consists of a Spread Shot, a Laser Gun and a Homing Gun. The traditional flamethrower, however, is missing. Playing on the Easy setting allows the player to always keep their current weapon after losing a life, a feature not available in any of the other settings, but locks the player out of the final boss stage and true ending, which usually occurs after all five main stages are completed.

PLOT: In 2633, the Neo-Salamander Force, led by their mysterious leader Chief Salamander, travel back to 1973 to take out the Contra force, when the Earth's defenses are considered by them as "primitive". They end up establishing a base on the ruins of the Shizuoka temple at the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. Bill Rizer and Genbei Yagyu, two members of the present-day Contra team, are deployed by the Galactic President to travel back in time to stop them. With the help of Brownie or Tsugumin (a miniature gynoid similar to Browny from Contra: Hard Corps) and Plissken (a reptilian alien) the Contra warriors manage to take down the Neo Salamander Force. However, Chief Salamander is nowhere to be seen. In the true ending of the game, it is revealed Chief Salamander is actually "Plissken", who has infiltrated the Contra unit under an assumed name.

The base attaches to the fan tower using a large bolt that only requires hand assembly. The tiny remote already comes with a battery included. The instructions very clearly lay out how to use the touch controls on the fan and the remote control to achieve the perfect air flow for you. \r

There is a timer that can be set anywhere from half and hour to seven and a half hours. In addition there is a notch at the back of the fan which s as a home for the remote! With 2 preprogrammed modes - Beach and Night - , three speeds, the ability to turn off each fan individually, and oscillation you will be able to find the perfect setting for you. All of this with a fan which is relatively quiet, stylish and has a small footprint. \r
