  • Percepcion: Ilusion de la habitacion de Ames

    Una Habitación de Ames es una habitación distorsionada que es usada para crear una ilusión óptica. Fue inventada por el oftalmólogo estadounidense Adelbert Ames, Jr. en 1946 basado en el concepto de Hermann Helmholtz. Está construida de manera tal que vista de frente aparenta ser una habitación ordinaria de forma cúbica, con una pared trasera y dos laterales paralelas entre si y perpendiculares con el plano horizontal del suelo y el techo. Sin embargo, esto es un truco de perspectiva visual ya que en realidad la habitación es trapezoidal: las paredes están inclinadas al igual que el suelo y el techo, y la esquina derecha está más cerca para el observador frontal que la esquina izquierda (o viceversa). Como resultado de una ilusión óptica, una persona de pie en una esquina aparenta en la observación ser un gigante, mientras que una persona de pie en la otra esquina parece ser un enano. La ilusión es bastante convincente.

  • Jaguar C-X16

    El C-X16 da un paso más en el lenguaje del diseño galardonado de Jaguar. El diseño exterior es de una simplicidad asombrosa, definido por sus tres líneas inconfundibles; la línea del paragolpes delantero, la trasera que envuelve los faros y la curvatura de la línea del techo.

    La carrocería de aluminio está tan pegada a la mecánica como es posible para destilar la esencia de los deportivos Jaguar. Estirando las líneas principales hacia atrás desde el punto focal formado por la rejilla delantera y alejando las ruedas hacia las esquinas todo lo posible, el coche tiene unos laterales estilizados, con una predisposición para la acción inconfundiblemente Jaguar.

    El C-X16 también hace uso de firmas de estilo recientemente establecidas en Jaguar como la sutilmente redondeada rejilla trapezoidal. Inspirado por el C-X75 concept car y reconociblemente relativo al actual XF y XJ, este es el punto de foco del acabado delantero del coche, siendo perfectamente reconocible instantáneamente a través del retrovisor.

    El C-X16 presenta un sistema de regeneración de energía cinética (KERS) similar al utilizado en Fórmula 1. Esto permite capturar la energía cinética del vehículo en movimiento cuando el coche frena que después se almacena para un uso posterior durante la aceleración.

    Un gráfico en el salpicadero indica cuando se ha desplegado la potencia adicional suministrada por el motor eléctrico y el conductor inicia el aumento de potencia inmediata pulsando el botón "Push to Pass" en el volante.

    Una vez cargado, el sistema proporciona una potencia de 70 kW y un par de 235 Nm durante 10 segundos. La potencia está disponible inmediatamente y la batería se recarga de forma constante y automática a medida que se mueve el coche. Tanto la batería como el motor eléctrico tienen un sistema de refrigeración por líquido para garantizar que se mantiene el rendimiento a medida que aumenta el calor cuando el coche está en movimiento.
