Cerebro: Amplificador del mando a distancia del coche

A veces que la ciencia y nuestro día a día se cruzan para dar lugar a fenómenos más propios de ciencia ficción que de la realidad intuitiva a la que estamos acostumbrados. Un ejemplo muy curioso es el de utilizar el cerebro como amplificador para abrir nuestro coche desde más lejos de lo que sería posible de otra manera. El hecho es sencillo y puedes probarlo tú ahora mismo. Simplemente aléjate de tu coche hasta que no seas capaz de abrirlo/cerrarlo con el mando a distancia de la llave. A continuación aléjate un poco más y comprueba que el coche no se cierra/abre por mucho que acerque tu brazo hacia el coche, lo subas, lo bajes, etc. Entonces llega el turno de obrar la “magia”, apoya la llave contra tu cabeza apuntando hacia el cerebro y verás que ahora el coche sí reacciona cuando presionas cualquiera de los botones en la llave. Increíble, ¿verdad? Pues también funciona con cualquier parte de tu cuerpo con alto contenido en agua, como explicaremos a continuación. Pero antes repasemos un par de conceptos básicos necesarios para entender la física detrás de esta “magia”. El agua es una molécula (H2O) compuesta por Hidrógeno y Oxígeno. Esta molécula es interesante porque es dipolar, esto es, que tiene una parte con carga positiva (los átomos de Hidrógeno) y otra con carga negativa (Oxígeno) diferenciadas. Cuando una onda de frecuencia similar a las que emite la llave de nuestro coche atraviesa agua, las moléculas vibran de forma tal que emiten ondas electromagnéticas de frecuencia similar que se suman y amplifican el efecto de las ondas originales. El efecto global es similar a un amplificador de señal o de un emisor de radio, consigue que aumente la intensidad de la señal que recibe, haciendo que el alcance de esta sea mayor. De esta forma se consigue aumentar el rango de alcance del emisor (la llave en nuestro caso) sin necesidad de sofisticados artilugios. El hecho de que funcione tan bien con el cerebro se debe a que éste es 75% agua, pero también funciona con otras partes del cuerpo e incluso podemos emplear una botella o garrafa de agua si queremos un efecto mayor. Este truco, además de muy visual e impactante puede resultar práctico para encontrar nuestro coche en un parking grande además de impresionar a los amigos.
